Found one:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a ... 1700&num=9
Near the bottom of the page is a chart of gaming power usage for 1700, 1800X, and 7700K. Looks competitive.

quest_for_silence -- thanks for those links. Looked at a couple.
Did anyone find a test that reported watts at the wall plug for an equivalent package, Ryzen vs. Intel?
Read the Anandtech report but they forgot to bring the power meter to Spain. And haven't updated yet.

Re: Scythe Shuriken RevB fan issue
Dust will get into the motor shaft and bearing. I had a Toshiba laptop that had stopped booting. I cleaned the heatsink and to clean the motor shaft I oiled it, inserted and spun it, removed it and wiped it clean, reoiled and repeated this several times to clean out the bearing. I could tell the dif...

Re: Firefox 44 was bad news for me
The UI changes in FF over the last years annoyed me sufficiently to change to Pale Moon or the FF ESR version. Just trying FF in Linux recently I found that what used to be the close window button in the top right corner closes the last tab and I had to take the extra step of clicking on the menu an...

Interesting fact : my previous server was powered by 12V and even if ASRock only talk about the 19V input, the board also support 12V so if you need to replace or upgrade the provided PSU, you can still use an old laptop PSU Would anyone care to comment on the voltage requirements for both these mo...

Re: Can I use extra olive virgin oil to lubricate a CPU fan?
I used sewing machine oil to revive a laptop cpu fan and it worked well. On this fan the blade assembly came out easily exposing the motor shaft. I oiled the shaft, put it back in and spun it, removed it and wiped the shaft clean several times to clean all the dirt and dust out. Any cooking oil or 3...

Re: Another semi-Fanless PSU story
I have an old XP1800 computer with a psu fan connected at 5V. It's used only occasionally, and for short periods of up to an hour. The psu fan sometimes starts, sometimes doesn't, and sometimes I remember to give the fan a spin to get it going. IIRC the psu is an FSP. No case fan on this thing, unle...

Beautiful work. Thanks for showing it. I have one somewhat related, Atom on a DTX motherboard, but in an old mATX case and using a conventional psu. The only fan in it is the psu fan. But this is craftsmanship.

Thanks for posting that link. After years of obsessively cutting the grilles out of cheap cases I have looked at the honeycombed grille on Antec cases and thought, "Should I bother?" Apparently, I should.

Re: Memory madness
Does it work with the same two sticks in the other two slots? Not that you have them in the wrong slots, but are the slots themselves okay? I still think the solution will be found in adjustments made for the load of four filled slots. Have you reset the bios yet? Did you try raising the chipset vol...

I remember an issue some years ago, probably in the DDR1 era, when using 4 sticks of ram instead of 2 meant having to change a significant memory timing. Re: Memory madness
I forgot two basics: Akustyk has one of them: reset the bios (clear cmos), instructions will be in your motherboard manual, and especially in a case like this dealing with ram, look for any bios updates and install them. If your board is booting with two sticks, this can be accomplished. And second,...

Re: Memory madness
Populating all 4 memory slots on a board has sometimes given issue to the problems you're experiencing. The usual solutions are to increase the voltage and relax the timings. You've tried the first, and despite the lack of immediate success, I would not drop the voltage back yet, but maybe increase ...
