Searching around I see prime95, orthos, cpuburn and occt mentioned for CPU stress testing, and atitool and furmark mentioned for GPU testing. Anyone got any opinions on these items of software? Being lazy, I was hoping to not have to download and research how to use several different items of softwa...

Software for stress testing CPU and GPU
I'd like to run my CPU and GPU (both separately and together) at 100% to test them. Specifically my goal is to measure the maximum power requirements at the wall with a kill-a-watt, although I assume the software needed is the same when stress testing for other reasons. Can anyone recommend software...

Understood. The only problem is I can't find the ACK-I7751 from my usual supplier - http://www.scan.co.uk/. They have ACK-I7753 though - will that work? They also have ACK-I7361 and ACK-I7363.

Exactly which bolt-thru kit for Scythe Mini Ninja?
I have a Scythe Mini Ninja for Socket 775 (specifically, http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=657369 ). Although I had read previously how bad push pins were, I didn't quite believe it until the HSF fell off within a couple of days of putting it on! So, I require a bolt-thru kit, I believ...

I've got that motherboard (from within UK) and it definitely does come with the com port bracket. To use lm-sensors in Ubuntu you need to get the package, run sensors-detect from a command prompt, say Yes to everything. You can then use something like GkrellM or the Gnome Sensors Applet to view the ...

One thing I didn't mention is the use of Dragon Naturally Speaking. I don't think Dragon Naturally Speaking is available for Linux, unless you can get it working in wine. I wanted to ask pelago, about the ALiveNF6G-DVI, have you got USB running OK? Well, it's funny you mention that, because now I t...

Something important in a free image host is one that is likely to still be around (and without changing URLs) in a few year's time. It's annoying visiting threads from a couple of years ago from results of a search and all the images being broken links. Because of that I'd prefer to use a host that ...

What switch comes with a built-in firewall? More like which one doesn't? Mind you, I'm talking about the stuff you buy at the consumer electronics store, not an enterprise grade switch. You know, Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, Belkin, Apple, and so on. I've yet to see one of these that does not come wit...

There are two 200GB laptop HDDs, see viewtopic.php?t=34184 . The Fujitsu is a bit thicker than normal, but the Toshiba is standard thickness (9.5mm). Both of them are a little hard to come by though.

I agree with all that was written above. With Linux, sometimes new motherboards (or more specifically, new controller chipsets on the motherboard) don't have any Linux drivers, until the Linux kernel is updated to deal with them. If you use a very new Linux distribution, such as Ubuntu Feisty, and h...

Undervolting AM2 Sempron 3200+ - not all multipliers work
I've just started experimenting with undervolting for the first time. I have a Socket AM2 Sempron 3200+ in an ASRock ALiveNF6G-DVI motherboard, which lets me adjust the multiplier and the voltage independently (I can probably adjust the frequency too but I've not fiddled with that). The normal multi...

Is it actually coming out of standby (so your documents are open in the same place) or rebooting? If it's rebooting then maybe the PC is actually losing power, and if your BIOS is set to switch the PC on after a power cut, maybe that's what's happening. If it really is coming out of standby, is it s...
