First temperature test results

Okay, I got the first temperature test results from my friend. Room ambient temperature was 25 degrees C, the temperatures were measured with Asus Probe V2.21.07. Idle temperatures were CPU: 34 degrees C, motherboard: 31 degrees C. After running two instances of CPUBurn 1.4 for 10 minutes, the tempe...

Sorry, my mistake, it did have RAM installed during all the tests (silly me).

Also, my friend determined that it does POST with a PCI graphics card, which I forgot to mention.

Okay, an update about the installation process. It didn't go quite according to plan, but let's start with a list of the stuff my friend's TNN-500A will have in it: - Mainboard: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe - CPU: Intel Pentium IV 3.0GHz Northwood - Memory: Kingston HyperX 1GB Kit DDR 400MHz PC3200 - Hard d...

Looks like my friend will get his case today, and also the internals he bought from the local net store are supposed to arrive today. When I get home from work I'll be heading towards his place!

Oh, and yes, I'll ask his permission for posting the pictures. :)

Re: Looks good

I notice your TV out cable for the G550 looks possibly home made. Ah, you noticed! Yes, it is indeed home made. I ordered an adapter, but after waiting for two months with no adapter in sight I decided to make one myself. I got the info I needed from here: http://forum.matrox.com/mga/viewforum.php?...

My new Digital Media Center PC

Hi! I recently purchased a DigiTV PCI card for my Dell Optiplex 240 desktop PC. This PC has been my "reasonably quiet" media PC for about two years now, but after getting the TV card I decided that I need to replace the Dell with something that would be quieter than my VCR so that I can leave it rec...

The friend of mine who ordered the Zalman TNN-500A from QuietPC got email stating that they are about to ship the case, expected delivery date is May 17th. I managed to get myself invited to go visit my friend and help him install the case when he gets it (I'm very interested to see the case up clos...

I'm in the process of building my new silent system (consisting of Nexus 3500 PSU and Zalman CNPS-7000A cooler, with no other fans). Yesterday after running the PC for about 2 hours at about 15% CPU load and very little disk access, my temps were as follows: Seagate ATA IV 80GB: 46 degrees C Samsung...

Right: everyone seems able to recommend notebooks which are quiet at idle. Heck, I've got one right here. The problem is always that as soon as you throw some work at a notebook, it sounds like a hurricane with a temper. As far as I'm concerned, the challenge is this: Recommend a notebook which is ...

I have a 1604N. It is louder than I thought before buying it, and it vibrates quite a lot (it causes the whole PC case to vibrate). I was rather underwhelmed with it after I got it. Oh well, at least it is big and fast...

I had the exact same problem with the same drive. Turned out it was a Windows limitation. Windows versions up to XP only use 32-bit LBA addressing, which has the maximum disk size limit of 128GB. Windows XP SP1 and above increase the LBA addressing to 48bit. You can either install SP1, or follow the...

Coba Super Silent 350W experiences?

Hi! Has anyone any information or experiences about the very cheap "Coba Super Silent 350W" PSU? I just noticed a local web store that is specialized in silent components is selling it. I found a german article about it here: http://www.dirkvader.de/page/coba-ap350x.html Annoying background music lo...

I totally agree that the P-M should make it onto the desktop. I have worked for a few months with an Acer 800LCI ( review ) and it is very speedy, runs 5 hours on a battery and best of all is totally silent 99% of the time. I have used an Acer 803LCi (the 1.6GHz version) since May, and I can confir...
