Is there any recommendation for current cpu's
I've been checking in every few months looking for a new recommended list, so I'm not up on what is good nowadays. I have an; Intel PIV 3.0 Northwood Socket 478 8 kilobyte primary memory cache 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache. That I'm fairly happy with but my mb is AGP and most new video cards s...

Where can I find AGP/passive/composite
I've looked everywhere I know of. Anyone know where I can find an AGP video card with 128 to 256 mb, passively cooled and having a composite out connector?
Thanks

what iis this noise called?
I bought a Thermaltake TR2-430W PSU. While it does not seem to make any noise from pushing air with the fan, there is some sort of high pitched noise sorta like the same noise you hear from a TV when the sound is turned off. is there a name for this kind of noise? What could be the source and is the...

Whether it will or not depends on if the motherboard suppors speedfan. The HS itself doesn't really matter. Check speedfan's list of mobo's that support speed adjusting to see if your's is there. (or just download it and try it out) Well, like I said, I use speedfan to control the case fans. I alre...

Switching to the Northwood is not worth it IMO. A northwood might save 20W but is that worth $125? Try out the Ninja and see if that helps you. Switching to an AMD system or new core 2 is really the only way to lower the temp in the room. Have you tried undervolting the cpu yet? That and the Ninja ...

It's a 478 and I work with a lot of digital photo work and DVD movies, I need a cpu that is capble wouldnt the P4 3.0 be a step back? The Prescott's deeper pipelines make it slightly slower than a similar clocked Northwood. A slower processor can run on less voltage if you can undervolt, thus the l...

What enlight model do you have? I looked quickly at their cases on newegg and they seem to use 80mm fans. start over with amd. The P4 3.2E has TDP of 89/103W, depending on Vcore, there is no way in hell you will make that quiet without a buttload of work, and it will still heat up your room. I first used the zalman speed control to make it quieter, the sound was acceptable. But the darn thing heats up the room, so now i run the cpu fan at full speed, it isn't loud but i don't want to hear it at all, and it still is too hot What can i do to make it cooler and quieter 1. start over with a...

Old Pentiums are a bit hard to support... Most use stuff like EDO RAM, with limitations like 64MB RAM maximum per SIMM slot (which you have to install in pairs). good point, I had not considered that, although the NASLite+ product is not supposed to be memory hungary or even use the bios, so no har...

What is the quietest PC you've ever not heard?
I am interested in putting together a network file server for my home network. I am considering a product like NASLite+ which should run on a 486 on up. All I need in the box is a network card, some kind of generic video card, a floppy drive, and then the only real heat source would be the hard driv...

arctic-cooling HSF startsup with a roar
I have an Arctic-Cooling copper silent TC on an AMD CPU. 99% of the time it starts up with a roar, sounds like it's dropped a bearing or something. After a minute or two it becomes silent. Any clues, it's been doing it for almost allways.... Anyone think of a cause? Can I correct it or do I need to ...

I have a panaflo FBA08A12L with 3 wires running from it. I thought i could/should get an RPM reading from it. I don't. I started using speedfan and I still can't control it. Right now I'm waiting for a nexus so I just stuck in a Zalman ZM-F1. I get an RPM reading but I can't control it with SpeedFan...

I just disconnected my front case fan. The cpu is not too hot, i think it's 42-44 now . I saw a pabst that claims 9dba but i also see that it isn't as quiet as they claim. I think ...
