Re: Noctua DH-14: Stock fan control

Have mine hooked up to SpeedFan based on the excellent tutorial on this site. Running basically 40% at idle and then ramping up.

 By "locally" I meant being able to get in my car, drive to the store, buy it and put it in the trunk! Guess it shows I am over 40! Thanks for the response. The Solo is not currently available locally and I don't think it's a big enough cooling boost. It's a nice case but the cooling setup is basically the same as the SLK3000B and I would have to sacrifice either my optical drive or my card reader to keep the Kama Bay. Under two...

Choice for replacement case Antec 902 or CM 690 II Advanced?

My existing Antec SLK3000B is showing it's age housing a Phenom II X4 955 BE. Unfortunately I can't use a case with a door due to the case placement. Have shortlisted the Antec Nine Hundred Two and the Coolermaster 690 II Advanced. Like both as they have large top exhaust fans that can exhaust the a...

I Have a similar situation with the SLK3000B or whatever it's called. Can't speak for the standard fan in the P180 but the Nexus fans cool well with very little noise. I would tend to replace the stock heatsink myself, any decent tower heatsink coupled with a Nexus or Scythe fan is going to provide better cooling and lower noise. I am running a 125W 955 plus a Radeon ...

If you are concerned about write induced failure why not write the Linux installation to CF and have the swap file on a cheapo 1GB USB thumb drive? When the thumb drive fails just have another handy to replace it.

Just a suggestion from the one who does not know!

Will the Thermalright Ultra-120 fit in an Evercase EC-4252?

The non-ultra fits fine in my case E4252 but I think that it may press on the damping foam I have on the side panel.

With a papst on the the U120 and a nexus 120 exhaust my E6600 sits at 50 degrees celcius while folding.

Your current system looks like a similar spec to mine and I have been doing a lot of thinking about how to upgrade in the near future. Silence (TDP) wise AFAIK the difference between the AMD and Intel product lines are as follows; 1. The AM2 EE SFF X2 3800 only puts out 35W but requires the upgrade ...

Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu. The earlier model was the favourite around here for a long time and is cooling the XP2500M I am writing this with. You have to be carefull with the placement of the socket if there is no space between the motherboard and PSU in your case.

Shouldn't be any problem, anything less than 38mm thick or smaller than 120mm diameter should be fine. My exhaust fan is a 120mm diameter and 25 mm thick and still has clearance.
