1. you are correct 2. yup 3. I've used these as motherboard standoff screws (I'm not sure if I'm right though) 4. hmmm... I'm using them for PCI covers... 5. yup I don't remember having so little number of screws in my 3000b, I definitely had more of the little hexagonal screws and the round button ...

Hmmm, just to double check: is the 12V line (a square 4 pin plug) plugged into your motherboard and secure? is a CD/DVD drive or bootup-able storage plugged in? is a fan plugged into the CPU fan slot? Do you have another spare PSU? The components you've chosen won't take much power, so a low 300W PS...

Everything looks pretty good, though the 1900xtx is going to be REALLY hot (and really loud with load). I would suggest Nexus fans or lower speed Yate Loons instead of SilenX fans. The seagate's are pretty fast, but it seems that if you wanted it quieter either the new WD's or Samsung drives should ...

The Latitude D620 is ok. They've done a horrible job with the fan controller. I think it's tied mostly to the CPU percent utilization until it's too hot. When the laptop is used (and both cores are utilized at about 30-40%), the bottom side can get very, very hot. The fan and cooling system is subpar...

cAPSLOCK hit it right on. Though I would look at a few other choices. Do you plan to overclock? At this point getting midrange ram with heatsinks are about the same as getting generic ram and buying ram heatsinks. That way you get better timings as well as warranty. People around here try to stay aw...

Kitts, disable the RAID that everyone is talking about. I had a similar problem on my p4c800e-deluxe as well as my asus a8n-sli deluxe. If you're not using RAID, disable RAID. Enable RAID if your floppy drive is working and f6 allows you to install the drivers, otherwise windows WILL hang during you...

Since no one has replied, I'll give it a try. The Zalman 7000AlCu is far better than the stock, but it's several years old. The newer zalmans (7700 and 9500s will do a lot better), the scythe ninja, or the thermalright xp-90(c)/xp-120. Read the reviews and search for the lowest price, since I'm assu...

YoniD, both cases will serve you well (I have both). Though the super lan boy is a bit flimsy it is nowhere as bad as the Dell and HP cases I've had to work with at work. Both cases, however, have the cheesy plastic front cover. If you enjoy moving your computer around, like the sound ports in front...

What do you want to do? Overclock a barton 200%?!?!? On the serious side, it could help a little (a very little bit). Though I don't understand why you would need such a setup. The SI-97 is very efficient and with one fan, should easily cool your processor. When two fans are that close together, the...

You might want to take a look at the new Thermalright V1. It sounds like it might be able to cool your 9800 pro fanlessly (if it will fit). Here's a review for it.

Not bad, actually it looks pretty good. Since your looking at a silent "budget" pc, any of the the well-known memory brand ram will do (unless you plan on overclocking of course). You might want to look into getting perhaps the XP-120 and let the cpu passively cool (or allows you to overclock even m...

CuriousMike, you've hit upon one of the things I dislike about the 3000B. Basically there are two "nobs/clips" at the top and multiple smaller ones that also hold the front panel to the case. I recommend taking the right side off, just so that you can ease these nobs on either side out(using a tool,...

You can go wrong with the XP-120, AMD64, Nexus 120 combo. Unless you plan on some heavy overclocking in some really hot rooms, I don't think you need to worry. Seeing how you've found it so popular, it can't suck and have so many good reviews (besides, then what would my usual $.02 be worth? 2*10^-1...
