Nice build,
Could I suggest putting a bit of foam on the floor of the case underneath the hard drive. The elastic bands on my solo stretched and lost their elasticity after a while causing the drive to drop lower, just worry that if that still happens your drive could touch the bottom of your case

Well, video is that applicatio Yup agreed, for servers and for people editing massive dig video. But not for the Office computer under discussion in this thread ratherrapid anatech and ...

The silverstone case is not a quiet case, strong, beautiful maybe but too open and too aluminium to be truly quite. It has bags of bling though! Having two raptors just a foot away from your ear is just going to create a racket - no matter what case you have. The only way you'll not notice them is i...

Been using DiNuvo (non bluetooth) for some time now. Best thing about it is seperate number pad, so your mouse can be much closer to your keyboard. The keyboard itself is OK, but 1) Caps lock is easy to switch on. 2) Occasionally it will lock up and require a reset. Done this maybe 4 times in 10 mon...

re ST20G5 Finally a Shuttle with DVI, this looks very promising, if perhaps not as innovative as the box reviewed. re Mike C sounds standards Have to agree that a stock Zen even with fan on lowest setting is too loud, and a 3.5" drive is totally out. You really have to slow your CPU down and slow do...

Have to say that my favorite drive is my fujitsu mht2040. Its just so amazingly quite, generates so little heat and almost no vibration in comparison to any Samsung spinpoint (of which I have 5). Notebook drives are now about £1 a gigabyte which is about the price 3.5" drives were a year ago (well m...

I can vouch for that motherboard cpu combination, very impressive performance, very low price. There just aren't any good 939 NForce3 motherboards that a Thermalright XP120 will fit. The Dfi NForce4 boards also seem to have some teething problems with memory compatability (see Anandtech forums). Its...

Good luck with your folding :-) Couple of tips: 1) If your not overclocking your XP have a look at the undervolting articles on this site. If your motherboard supports this your likely to be able to reduce your cpu voltage perhaps down to 1.2V if your lucky. This will significantly reduce your temp ...

I would suggest a ThermalRight XP90, as its much more effective than the Zalman cooler and lighter. The only negative is that it requires a bit of care when fitting. I'd combine this with a good 92mm fan - lots of recommendations on this site e.g. Panaflo FBA09A12L1A, or Nexus, and a Zalman fanmate....

Generally people here go for steel cases rather than aluminium ones, less resonance and less noise. Also quiet computers get hot so need excellent airflow. Seems to me the main problem is the hard drive, so How about replacing it. Notebook drives are fairly cheap now and much much quiter than even a Samsung Spinpoint never mind your WD. They also run alot cooler, and are lots smaller so you could experiment with blocking your front vents, but leaving j...
