Phenom application for undervolting
Did anyone find any Windows application that allows me to mange the multiplier/voltage in similar way like RMClock. I know that RMClock is currently beta testing new release that might finally support Phenoms, but are there any other apps that have been updated to support the Phenom? I'm stuck on AM...

AMD 740G chipset
New unannounced chipset, AMD 740G http://www.pcper.com/#NewsID-5998 From the look its a 55nm shrink of AMD 690 (80nm). Checked some internet shops in Poland, and area already available. The greatest strength of this platform is likely the power consumption. At idle, with 2GB of memory, a 500 GB HD, ...

Thermalright - new chipset coolers
Outside of the "fire" look of the IFX cpu cooler. Its lighter by 30grams and now accommodates 80cm fans :) Now we just have to wait for a review (and hope its not as bad as the CPU cooler (IFX-14 that is) Also these coolers look to be already available at polish store www.zenfist.pl Do the guys/gall...

Suffice it to say, this board is high on my list. But as luck, one of the local shops started to carry X2 3800+ EE SFF 35W version :) So that brings lots of options without even undervolting. I'll will double check if any of them carry the X2 3600+ (65nm version) as most seem to have the 90nm EE ver...

Techreport.com had a nice article showing that price/performance the x2 3600 was the clear winner. Watt wise its hard to say, there aren't that many reviews showing that. Generally, AMD690 is decently power efficient compared to equivalent intel platform. CPU wise some sites show about the same, oth...

OK. I tried to investigate the issue of software undervolting in Linux, and in general, though not as easy as windows, there are possibilities. So since there aren't many options, I'll have to just cross my fingers and hope i don't mess anything up. Still in general undervolting via BIOS is more com...

That is just the info that was provided. But it would be interesting if the source site performed this test on other boards to determine what type of VRM is better. To tell you the truth, the information was posted here on the forums. It showed that the 4 phase power regulator was not as efficient as ASUS 3 phase. A German site performed direct measures of CPU power consumption. And with the two boards above, it ended up that the ASUS was much better. Top end w...

intresting thought... I might try something out when i get back home. Next Thursday. Current experiment is to run the picopsu from the ATX Power supply 12v line. It is possible that the efficiency of the power supply has changed. Since removing components does not add but remove load. Remove the hauppage pvr 150 and check the power consumption when its removed. This would permit to exclude or include it as part of the increase of the power. As for the new PS...

I'm going to guess that undervolting sacrifices C&Q? I know that DFI and most other boards had overvolting with C&Q by having voltage adjustmen like Vcc 104% etc. It be nice if there is a board that permits undervolting with C&Q. But from what you are saying, most people easly reach near 1.0V for 36...

The idea of the "psu calculators" is that you can estimate how much power you might need. Were as the wattage meter is for when you allready have the system at home and running. Small difference. I guess when it comes to accuracy. You can estimate, buy and measure and submit the results to the devel...
