You might want to consider one water cooled power supply and using 2*120mm size radiator in the bottom of the CM stacker. I'm using 1048 to cool VGA, CPU, NB and 1 HD. I'm running one 120mm fan through the power and radiator (size 120*240) at the same time and temps are below 50 with heavy load. So ...

Has anyone bought the Pabst fan version (350W FSP 350-60PN / NMT-2 / Papst 1600 12cm) of the Fortron PSU? If so, could you give comments on it.

It's supposed to have it's own voltage regulation for the fan. Is it any better than the original?

How to build muffler?
Here's an idea for an article: a guide to effective mufflers or something like that. Based on actual knowledge and not urban myths :) Here's what I know about this. - Airflow needs nice pathways, no extremely sharp turns, etc. or it may cause too much airflow resistance. - No straight paths from sou...

I saw a rather nice cabinet here: http://www.sunpoint.net/~tjuspa/html/suunnittelu.html The text is in finnish. But there are lot's of pictures and drawings. The Cabinet was originally designed by JoseG at finnish hardware forum muropaketti. Summary: Only a very low hum can be heard from the compute...

I got a sealed water cooled system and it has some microscopic leaks that I haven't been able to fix (used epoxy to cover the bolt edges and it still leaks). The waterblocks leak from the locations where the water channels have been drilled. The leak is so slow that no water actually is seen outside...

I got a very silent water cooled system. But it's nowhere close to Bladerunner's system (nice work). It still has two fans, but both are running at 7 volts and are silent Pabst (12dB) fans. Barracuda IV is silenced with aluminium waterblock and with the IBM software that allows manipulations of seek...

Can't say about the first one. It's probably a bit quieter than normal PC due to the thick wooden walls. The problem with that one is, that it has openings for the sound to escape from. Silencing is like the old saying about weakest link... If you leave one weak spot, then the sound gets out from th...

Add CD/DVD drives to the recommended pages?
Hi, The biggest sound source in a silenced computer tends to be the CD or DVD drive. It would be nice to be able to find a "silent" one. So could it be possible to add to the recommended page CD/DVD drives and info like: - sound level in normal operation - if adjustable max speed (by software) - sam...

I have some nice links to wooden cases. Text is in finnish, sorry http://koti.mbnet.fi/~kotelo/index.html This one should be quite good. The green color indicates sound absorbing material. http://koti.mbnet.fi/joseg/varasto/PC-vaimennuskaappi.png Quietest one. Lilac color indicates sound absorbing m...
