This only 3 things I am not too crazy about is the 2-92mm fans in front, the fact that there are no hard drive mounting places EXCEPT for using the 5 1/4 adapters, and finally that there are no rubber isolators for the drive mounts. The "review" linked to above doesn't mention anything about HDD mo...

I am using the exact same cpu as you and you will not be able to go fanless. My cpu with a 7700Alcu at 6 volts with an ambient temp of 27°C is about 29°C at idle and when encoding it can get to as high as 54°C. Summer has not even hit here yet. The difference betwen my 7000AlCu and the 7700 AlCu was...

Just got the UltraX keyboard in today. Not bad but has a slight tactile click kinda similar to the old IBM AT keyboards but quieter. I noticed that my typing is a bit faster too. The shift keys a re a bit louder than the other keys. All in all, I would give it a 3.5 outta 5 stars. Pros: Small Insert...

Dogs or cats............... get a nose or paw in there once and they will NEVER do it again. Most of the fans that "we" run here are running slow enough not to cause great injury. Just a pain for a few. My cat has never stuck its nose, paw, or other part of body into my fans. I am not abdicating anim...

Got the Plextor PX-716A myself. Not a totally quiet drive, seeing what we are accostomed (sp?) here but for reliability it CANNOT be beat. I have burned about 150 dvds and only one coaster. I messed up. As far as movie playing goes for a HTPC, I do not see a problem at al. Quiet in that respect. See...

I removed mine by removing card from computer, putting in ziplock bag, and putting in freezer for 10 minutes. Removed card from bag and gently removed fan/hs combo using a credit card and sliding between hsf and gpu.

I accept no responsibility. Use info at your disgression.

Thanks for all the advice I'm continuing my investigations JanW: I hat the intel stock heatsink working before. So I guess the heatspreader should work correctly. This coupled with silicone washers on the 2 screw that hold the chassis to the heatsink should help in eliminating some of the virbations..

On a somewhat related subject, I always wondered if you could use insolation spacers or silicone spacers on the mounting points for the motherboard.

Never though of that. But even if you cannot change the fan, how long does the average overclocker keep the same heatsink? Personally, I am on my 2nd one in a year due to the new stuff that keeps coming out. By the time you have to chance the fan, a new and improved or better heatsink will be out an...

Zalman CNPS 7000 AlCu and 7700AlCu

I am honestly say that there is little to no difference in the two HSFs. I am running them on an Asus P4P800Dlx motherboard using the 11/16 setting on the QFan control in the BIOS to get an apple-apple reading. The load temps are within 1°C using MBM 5.0 with the sam ambient temp. That 1°C is within...

This has been tested.

You can run Motherbaord Monitor 5 like others have suggested and can adjust the temps accordingly in the MBM software
