I would like to avoid underclocking, as its gonna be running as a heavy-ish server, no gaming or anything, just lots of sending files over the network, and 24/7 running of P2P apps... If all you are doing is file server/downloading then this is probally not really that heavy a load at all for this ...

It's full of crap. The opening line on that page that suggest that cpu temp rises after you pc has been turned off is a complete lie. The temp of your heatsink will rise as heat from you CPU conducts into it and there is no fan running to take it from the heatsink. But the cpu will be cooling down a...

I use little round gromets on each side of the case where the screws go though, which seems quite effective. I also increased the size of the holes in the case a bit so the screws didn't rest of metal. Perhap if you are going to buy one of these gaskets you should grab a set of little grommets for t...

Best options for half-height video?
I've been looking at getting an Antec Minuet Case to serve as the basis for upgrading my PC and have had a hard time finding information about half-height cards which this case requires. In particular i am wondering what other people would recomend as the best half-height video card at a reasonable ...

If it's doing 43c with a fan then it doesn't sound good.
Sadly the duron chip is a bit of a power hog.
Duron 700 = 34w -> 39w
Pentium 3 700 = 18.3

Mine just had the panaflo label and no thermaltake label on the underside of the fan. Looks just like the photo in Ralf Hutter's last post here. m0002a's fan appears to be a different revision as the casing even has small differences. I use the silentboost and it is a nice cooler but is not silent, merely quiet. Replacing the fan would fix that of course. For a money-no-object purchase i would suggest looking at the spcr recommendend list and grab one of those nice thermalright heatsinks and an appropriate fan if it will fit you ...

I have one, no good at all at full voltage, this set up is made for undervolting/fan replacement as the block itself is a good unit. At half the price of a thermalright here in australia when i bought, it i'm happy with it. I run it with a 56R resistor inline and when i get my PSU quiet i'll change ...

The spec sheet for my 'cuda IV 40gig lists operating temperatures from 0-60c ambient ! Makes 50c intenal sound pretty cool really, you wont see me running it near 60c amb anytime soon, but i think i have some leeway :) Grommet mounted was 50c when in use with only the psu for exhaust and its down to...

i have a similar heatsink as rp's hanging off a geforce 4 mx 440 and it will not run games without being underclocked (it locks up otherwise) but whist doing 2d it is barely warm. This is without a fan. It might just be poor installation on my part but the heatsink gets hot when the card is working ...

I suppose we'll know in a week if it is true. I know my fingers are crossed The price will be interesting, intel has a great product here and might just charge accordingly :( As for the prescott, apparently a new stepping is on the way soon that should get thermal envelope down to something respecta...
