Is this still the case after all this time? No quiet aftermarket fans being sold for the 360?

That would be tcase. If you have a chance would you run coretemp, speedfan, or one of the other core temp monitors to see what you get?

Thanks for the link. Says it was last updated in 2005. Does Throttlewatch work well with Core Duos?

Throttlewatch

In this article: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article893-page4.html There is mention of and a link to Throttlewatch: http://www.panopsys.com/Downloads.html But, when I click the Throttlewatch link I can't find any links to download the app. Is Throttlewatch still useful for Core 2 based systems? If...

What are your core temps at idle and under load (what is ambient with these temps)? What MB are you using?

I tried to cool a 9650 passively with a Ninja 2000 but finally gave in and used the fan they include with the Ninja.

The top fin is touching. I could bend the top couple of fins in one corner down a mm or 2 or I could bend the case support out of the way. Maybe I should just get a smaller heat sink. With the MB layout the Ninja 2 is blocking the PSU fan intake (the fins of the Ninja are only .25" from the PSU). Th...

Solo + Scythe Ninja2 + Asus P5N-D

The Ninja2 just barely fits and is so tight that it touches part of the case support structure. Any suggestions on the best course of action?

Would these values suggest it will be OK in a system built to be quiet?

Idle Mode 28 dBA (average)
Seek Mode 0 33 dBA (average)
Seek Mode 3 29 dBA (average)

Caviar RE3

Has anyone used or tested the 1TB Carviar RE3 drives? Wondering how much noise they make. Is the acoustic signature acceptable in a system built for quiet rather than silence?

Great info, thanks a bunch. The reason the Solo is in the running is due to its smaller size. The P180 is quite large, but very nice looking.

Solo vs P180 in Q9559 setup

Would there be any appreciable cooling difference between the Solo and the P180 for a build with:

Intel Q9550 (heatsink TBD)
4GB Ram
GeForce GTX 260 or similar
(2) 1 TB hard drives
(1) 20x DVD burner
PSU TBD

I've clicked all over the site and can't find the detail page for the SPCR PCs. Does such a detail page even exist?

I can't seem to get to the details on the models mentioned here: To start with, EPCN is offering two SPCR systems: Model Eleven, a very quiet media center PC, and Model One, a fast general purpose mid-tower PC that's effectively silent. The systems are detailed here: SPCR-designed PCs by EndPCNoise ...

First time build - Quad core

Building a box around the Q9450. Any suggestions to help quiet it up would be great.

I'm thinking of:
