Another option is to set the folding client to use less than 100% of the CPU. You could lower the percentage until your CPU runs cool enough to prevent the fan from speeding up. Then you could decide if you could live with the lower ppw production before giving up on the CPU. Personally, I would go ...

I haven't seen that movie, but I did find the review amusing. Its one of those bad "Let's go hunt humans because they are the ultimate prey and they will really test my superior hunting skills" movies. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even if they were drunk and stupid. No, but we do have cars (w...

Thanks for the post, NullObject. I was missing that feature. I miss the old graphs too. :( But other than that, I like the new stats. NP. I think we alll missed that and other features. Fortunately, it sounds like Jason, the guy at EOC is planning to do a lot of tweaking and to add more functionali...

Sometimes something will just "tickle me" as my parents generation would say, and this definitely did. Laughed so hard I needed a tissue. :sniff sniff:  I used to WindSurf, and I was fond of saying that when you sail in the ocean, "you become part of the food chain." :D David And I suppose you...

Team Overtake Lists now available at EOC stats
The new team overtake functionality may have already been there, but I just noticed it.
UnfortunatelyMac OS X is projected to overtake us in 38 days.

Mikael Strand made it to 100, only to get booted out again by BMW , but it looks like he will be back for another cup of coffee before getting booted out again, this time by aston and Kemokim . Actually, he might just get past FRODO before Kemokim catches him, and stay in the top 100. Guess I'll go...

Even though we had an influx of folders recently, including some agressive folders, we still need more points. We need to either recruit more folders or borg more machines. Team MAC OS X has been outproducing us for the since Mar. 11th and their weekly production is getting really close to ours. We ...

I'm running one dual Xeon machine, and while its producing quite a lot of points, I do not think its that cost effective, I think AMD wins the points-per-$ race actually. Note: I don't run any AMD-machines; currently, one P4 2.4C, one P4 2.8C and one dual Xeon 2.6, all with HT enabled. What Vijay s...

Bleah... the colors aren't working with Opera. Oh well, hadn't really been missing them anyway. I was wondering why nothing was color coded yet. Duh! I should have though checked the stats in a browser other than IE. In my case I do miss the colors. I'm not sure I miss them enough to use IE though....

Saving cash cash is nice. Having a quiet computer is even nicer! :D Because of my room acoustics, my computer sounds louder than if I had it in another room. I was looking at the 2.8c instead of 3.0c because of the heat difference (approx. 15 watts?) with the thought, with less heat, I can run a sl...

Re: Folding farm power consumption
Out of boredom more than anything else last night, I decided to sketch up a plan for a folding farm. Since I'm currently an impecunious student I'm not planning on actually building it, but it was interesting to do none the less. The major point that struck me was that (assuming electricity at 8p/k...

You are not catching me alright, to the tune of 2300 PPW. I have managed to slow you down a bit, but NOT MUCH. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out where to get another 2K PPW, but it's just not happening, unless I can "hide" my first farm and build a second one without my wife noticing. I kee...

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I was interested in the combo mainly because I could pick it up and get it running this weekend. I'm not sure I'll have time to now. I'll look into the 2500+ setup suggested by farmer haysdb and seconded by CoolGav . :) I'll probably need those extra points to hold ...

Athlon 2400+ & Shuttle AK32vn for folder?
Microcenter has an advertised special for an Athlon 2400+ & Shuttle AK32vn for $99 I was wondering if anyone new how 2400+ is as a folder? And how the motherboard is for stability and OC? I need to add a few more points to slow down D Bailey's overtake rate  until I start my farm. This seemed...

trouble with EOC Stats, an update
was fixing some little bugs last night, when I came across something that once I dug deeper, ended up being a seriuos problem. Stanford changed user's points to be a whole number, before each person's could have a couple decimal points... Well this screwed up some things when it would compare score...
