Music is why I'm trying to silence my PC in the first place!!! I record vocals directly into my computer using a large capsule diaphragm condenser microphone. Although it is a directional mic, I cannot completely eliminate the reflective sounds from my PC. My quest to silence (or at least reduce the...

CompUSA selling Zalman Flowers as "PC Toys"
Wandering through COMPUSA's ever-growing DIY section, I stumbled across a familiar-looking HSF, the flower. The packaging said "PC Toys Quiet Maxx". Upon closer inspection, it is actually a Zalman unit, the word "Zalman" appears on the fins. http://www.compusa.com/buildyourown/product_info.asp?produ...

I've got quite a few mobile racks in my systems. I've never "hot swapped". Half of my MR's have a circuit built in to the key, locked = power on, unlocked = power off, so for those you cannot pull the drive while it is powered, but you could still turn the key during a write, and screw something up....

I read your post thinking it would be a joke.... Anyhow, heres some ideas: Keyboard- Not sure if you could stand the action, but I'd bet that the "Virtually Indestructible Keyboard" (flexible rubber/silicone something or other roll-up keyboard) would be silent. Mouse- Not exactly a mouse, but if you...

Remote Desktop Appliance as an Approach to Silence
I've been fiddling with a "poor man's tablet", a Sonic|Blue ProGear. http://www.mira2go.com/ It is a pretty damn fun toy, and I have to put my ear against the thing to try and hear the HDD (which is the only thing that makes any noise). I loaded it up with a copy of XP Tablet (that I procured from a...

Smiley,
I, too have been poking about the mini-itx site.
If you link over to their store, you'll find this:
http://www.mini-itx.com/store/default.asp?c=9#p67
The exact same PSU as used in the Cubids. They show it rated at 55W.

Compatability... Via Mini-itx and 800X480
So, I wanna build a cool mini rig. If I can get the resolution of the onboard VGA on the Via EPIA to do 800X480, I will likely use this monitor: http://www.xenarc.com/product/700ts.html. I'm also looking into seeing if the PowerStrip utility might help me.... http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm Has a...

Simple & Effective? Yes Attractive & Aesthetically Pleasing? Hardly... I think gaming god is a little closer to the mark, as I doubt poster paper will be much better than a duct tape duct. Anantech.com has a pretty elaborate "my system" setup where users can store information on a number of "rigs". I didn't see photos, and I feel that having a "Gallery" or "Showroom" forum would probably better serve what we're after. The cool thing about the anandtech setup is that they can effective...
