I decided to try the stock HSF first, if it's too loud or doesn't provide enough cooling, another HSF will go in. I'm thinking a well applied layer of AS5, the bios feature of the asus that slows the fan down when not under load and the speedstep technology of the C2D will make the HSF run quiet eno...

Bear in mind that the 7000 isn't very very good, and it comes with a poor fan. From what I've heard, the stock Intel cooler is probably not much 'worse'.. How about a Thermalright xp / si 120? You can fit a nice fan on that and while not the best, they are better than the zalman 7000.. Just my 2c :...

I made this in autocad with exact measures to see how much the CNPS7700-Cu sticked out of the motherboard. I think it's safe to say it's out of the question. http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/56/p5bvm0ao.jpg So it looks like the CNPS7000B-Cu will be. It would be nice to read from people usi...

Re: E6600 - best heatsink that fits on an Antec Fusion?

7700 fits just fine vertically. Depending on your board layout you might have some overlap issues if your CPU socket is too far to one side. I got one in there without issue. I swapped the fan on the 7700 with a Yate-Loon one. What motherboard did you use? We already have an Asus P5B-VM being shipp...

Hi, I would think so, as long as case airflow is reasonable. My AMD Barton 2500+ overclocked to 2.2GHz is, on paper anyway, a hotter chip than the E6600 (80w+ vs 65w) and my Zalman 7000B Cu cools it fine at 5v (~1300rpm). I have two fanmates in series and can turn the fan down to ~1050rpm at which ...

E6600 - best heatsink that fits on an Antec Fusion?

Greetings everyone, I'm helping a friend build an HTPC based on the C2D E6600. After much persuasion I convinced him that the intel stock HSF would have to go. :) What would be a good alternative heatsink that fits inside a Fusion? I'm considering the CNPS7000B-Cu since looks like the CNPS7700-Cu is...

Say if you have a blowhole in your case you don't use anymore and want to close it without making it look ghetto :) is there any store that sells blowhole covers? Awesome rig you got there dynamiks. It 'looks' alot quieter than your previous build (no more mobo chipset fan  ). You know what the icing on the cake would be? Soft mount the fans using either EAR gromets or silicon gaskets.

I see Lian Li are using fan guards on the exterior at the back. Now it must be just a matter of removing those guards to have good airflow without doing any cutting. Wish they had thought of that before.

The 4th fan isn't really needed to get a cool enough case. But you can use the opening at the top to duct fresh air into the PSU, have you ever thought of that? Yeah, I noticed the 'FC-PGA2' thing. But both CPU's say 'PPGA'. It's the extra 'FC-PGA2' on the desktop version that I don't have a clue what it stands for or how much different makes it from the 'mobile' version. :(

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but... :) I may have a chance to get my hands on one of these, a Mobile P4 3.06GHz HT 533FSB 1.3v. Will this run on a desktop motherboard? The idea is to run it on a Gigabyte GA-8SQ800 (SIS655), would I have any problem with this mobo? Would it recognize the voltage...

The PSU is acting as the only exhaust on the case, that's not good for quiet PSU operation. I would prefer to see a custom made dust filter system instead of that aluminum mesh filter that's been commercially available for years. That filter is usually fixed to the fan with 4 fan screws of sorts, so...

Nice twist putting a 92mm fan at the back. :) Why do you wish you had space for another 80mm bellow it? That 92mm is more than enough. I advise you to remove that fan guard and mount all the case fans with EAR isolators, that should give you a significant drop in noise/vibration.

That fan won't be the only exhaust in your case, the PSU will also be acting as an exhaust. You should be able to get away with only 1 fan at the back running @ 7V.
