Sure if your disk doesn't fail during the first 3 years then it will probably be ok for the next 2 as well, But when you compare a 1 year warranty with a 5 years one, which drive do you trust more ? Free data recovery would be great, but it's just too expensive, so I guess a warranty extension is al...

Sorbothane in Europe
Just to let you know, might be useful for someone. II ordered an 1/8e sorbothane sheet from McMaster (could find any retailer in Europe, even asked Sorbothane UK but they couldn't help me). the sheet costs about 4 €, and shipping was about 15 € more (total 20 €). anyway can't wait to install my hdd ...

Thank you for your answers. If it cools as well as the 7000, I think I'm gonna buy this one, as you say Neil it takes less room, plus it makes it really easier to duct. As for the fan, I'll now have to find one quiet enough and with enough airflow to cool an athlon64 3200+. Any idea about cfm needed...

Alpha PAL8150 heatsink for Athlon64 ?
Anyone got a feedback on this one ? http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/cpu-alp-04.html They say it's for opteron, but if it fits on socket 754 it should be ok... and I don't remember seeing any other HS suited for suck mode, or am I mistaken ? It could enable to adapt bluefront's stealth duc...

Ok, anyway I've still got a month or so before I buy all my stuff (even though I might buy the case (BQE) earlier to take it apart a bit and see what mod I can do before all's installed. So I'll wait for your review, and stick (for the moment) to the Zalmann 7000 in my shopping list ;) EDIT : I chan...

I just saw on Thermalright's site that the SLK948U fits on Athlon64 too, that might be what's changed sinced the 947 (because of the "neo" backplate ?). Since I'm gonna buy my main comp with an athlon64 in about a month, has anyone any feedback on this ? And since that Atlhon64 3200+ is quite power ...

Nice plan Project :) I'm going to buy my comp in a month or so with about the same config as you (athlon64 and his x800 iceq2), but I chose the antec bqe instead of the sonata mostly because of the 2nd removable side panel which will help for cablegami and mods (psu duct for example). Anyway I'm rea...

I was already planning a fan swap for the psu... so you're saying it's necessary for the fan case too ? Ok, I'll try and tell you how it is for me (the compe will be just in front of my bed at head size). I don't think I'll get another motherboard though, it's going to be a linux server supposed to ...

Hmm thanks for the advice I think I'll go for the SP97 then, maybe it's a bit too much for a duron 700 which isn't going to be overclocked but with a Papst 8412N/2GLE it should keep very cool 'n quiet. and won't move. Do you guys recommend me a fanmate too, so I can precisely adjust noise to my need...

Athlon64 Heatsink
I just got my hands on a duron 700 with biostar motherboard (with holes for HS), and on the "recommended HSF" I didn't find the Thermalright SP97, although it has been reviewed. I'm planning to make this a server runing 24/7 juste beside my bed, so I really need something silent, and I wonder wich i...

Is the SX2 Pro the same as SX2 ?
On the site where I buy fans (http://www.pc-look.com/boutik/Cat_Refro ... 40_91.html)
, there's only the SX2 with 34dB nominal... is that one ok at 5V ?

Sonata airflow & fan noise
I've been reading about sonata mods for a while, but today I juste read a few articles on SPCR about fan choice and airflow... I am wondering if having unbalanced pressure in a case (ie too positive or too negative) will impact the fan(s) noise... Is having a 80mm S3 noiseblocker intake in front (lo...

Sonata psu air duct & ANTEC holes
Hello, I've been reading about sonata mods for a while (I don't have one yet but plan to buy one in the next few weeks), and I wonder if anyone has tried to make some kind of air duct between the "ANTEC" holes on sidepanels and the psu. Since anyway Antec says those holes are mainly for psu cooling,...

Hello guys :)
I've been reading quite a few articles on this site for weeks now, so when I found about your folding@home team I decided to help.
At the moment I'm folding@work actually, but in a few weeks I'll make myself a good comp thanks to all the things I read here, and it'll fold too
