I'm going for virtual mem turned off as well (my two 512 mb ram sticks I ordered just arrived at my postal office today, haven't gotten up there to pick them up though..), how big is the difference with it turned off by the way? Glad you weren't offended. :) Decoupling (if not by rubber-wire, then b...

Right, I was a bit surprised at first because the A7V features a 200 mhz bus, which means you'd have to underclock your bus. I myself run a t-bird 800 on one of them. How does your gf3 (and the agp slot?) cope with the added weight of that heatsink, isn't it in the 500g ballpark? Good stuff, I'll be...

I'm not terribly sure about this, but I think it's quite normal... at least my 80 GB IBM 120GXP drive exhibits the same kind of behaviour as your maxtor counterparts. It creates additional resonance in the case every three or so seconds I believe (I haven't timed it). This is something that annoys m...

That depends on the fan you decide to put to blow on it, since the zalman has a bigger dissipation area, that usually means you can get away with a less noisy fan, so yes, it'd probably be quieter. Then again, I don't know what intel hsf's come with for kind of fans, the last pentium I bought was a ...

On maybe a unrelated topic (?), I sent an e-mail a few days ago to a retailer that concentrates on various cooling products here in Sweden. I just pointed them to the zalman psu review that mike did a while back, and today I got my reply back. So now there's a little link on the bottom of their page...

Yes, I can get one of those, but idle noise is something that concerns me, as my drives consists not only of seagate barrcuda 4's, but ibm as well *shivers*. I'm using: 1. A IBM 75GXP 30 GB, affixed in a earlier model (the drive isn't enclosed - "top plate" is not fitted on this model) of the widely...

Copper you say?
Hello all, I like this little oasis in the internet jungle - been browsing around for a few weeks or so, and so far I've been very inspirated by what I've found here. As I'm trying to quiet down my little machine, I face the trouble of making my hd's less audible. The hd sandwich looks rather nifty,...
