Re: Prolimatech Genesis CPU Heatsink: Retaking the Crown
kinda wonder how it'd do in a case, with how the different fan orientations affecting airflow. also: unique? nobody wants to talk about the cooler master v10, eh? inside a tower it will be behind all the other coolers; since the airflow on an open testbench is beneficiary for top-down CPU coolers; ...

It strikes me as very odd that the rankings can change when you change nothing but the heat power input, as you do when going from stock i7 processor to overclocked. each heatpipe has a certain capacity to transfer heat, at a certain heat level it's possible they fail or work less efficient. take i...

I did a quick comparo of load test software running on Core i7 @ stock speed with stock Intel cooler. Did not measure CPU temp actively, did log power usage (at wall socket): - Prime95 (latest version: 155W - 8 instances of K7Burn: 167W (linkie: http://www.madshrimps.be/files/mirrors/K7burn.rar) - L...

interesting article; I've been pondering about a similar change, I've tested with a dual core Prescott S775 CPU, seeing your results I can confidently say when you overclock a Prescott to 4ghz with enough vcore you match the heat output of the S1366 CPU:-) What was the reason for not including the H...

I'm pretty sure he knew what part he was testing, but without proper gear to do power usage tests he decided to not focus on this "in detail", but not neglect the fact either, hence why he mentioned on the last page the power consumption wise the Core i5 will be the big winner. Rated TDP is not to b...

I thought the recommended badge cheapened the conclusion. There are sites, like Madshrimps, that give these badges to every product that comes across their desk. They never met a free piece of hardware they didn't like. care - to place - a bet on that ? We most definitely do not hand out a recommen...

In three years, your processor would be worthless not at all; single threaded performance has pretty much come to a halt; we don't need 8 core CPUs, which is what you'll get in 3-years; we won't see 5ghz CPUs, which is what we need to see performance boosts... so a CPU bought today will last you a ...

CFM vs DB are do-able if you don't take the DB at face value but only as comparison tool between the results. Or take the time to make it comparable. Either by comparing Lg([CFM]) vs [dB(A)], which is log-log, or [CFM] vs 10^([dB(A)]/10), which is linear. Cheers Olle Hey Olle, I barely made it thro...

hey MikeC, thank you for your input, much appreciated. I'm afraid that in very near future I won't be able to make room which will hit that low noise level; while I'm living in quiet little town, I have not enough room at this point in time to dedicate a whole room to noise testing, as this will be ...

got a chance to test the 9600 GT silent cell, runs at 105°C under full load (room 22°C) inside a case which has 2x120mm exhaust and 1x120mm in-take. performance is slightly better than a stock clocked 9600 GT seeing as this unit is rated at 700/1800/900 (GPU/SHADER/MEM). 105°C is what 9600 GT is ...

thanks EekTheCat. I'm nowhere near MikeC's ambient noise level or sound recording; I have a goal to work towards to! he has set the standard for noise level testing, no other site out there is matching his work; dhanson865: Ouch, that is twice the cost I'd pay in the US for it. arison. wonder if the passive testing was done with the case cloosed? this would likely affect temps. yes case was closed during all tests. @Dhanson: not currently looking for an upgrade of the SLM, just spend $500+ earlier this year for test gear; but a higher quality dBA meter is definitely on th...

36DBa BASELINE WTF??? welcome.. to the real world :) don't fixate on the absolute values of the dBA readings, it's used a comparative tool between the heatsinks and fan's tested, nothing more, nothing less. Could have used abstract numbers, but preferred these. our test lab is nowhere near as advan...

Hi, I can tell you just one thing: I'm using OCZ Vertex since almost 2 weeks and sold already my Samsung F1. I will post benchmarks tomorrow - after 9 day of using + benchmarks after 'reseting' an aligning but still with 'old' firmware. You can expect something interesting. I really don't care abou...
