Abit vGuru Cards

Has anyone had a chance to play with any of the Abit vGuru cards, like this X600: http://www.abit-usa.com/products/graphics/techspec.php?categories=2&model=217 Seems to be a nice product for the silent crowd - fan speed control, and voltage regulation, and clockspeed control, through software... Now...

Well, I found something for the Radeon 9800, here: http://www.ocfaq.com/kb/overclocking/voltmods

I've seen non-pro 9800's for around US$200, so thats looking like the way to go on a budget.

Still looking for volt mods for the high end Nvidia cards...

Cheers,
Mitch

8+ pipelines, Undervoltable DX9 cards?

Howdy, I've been researching and considering upgrade options for my trusty old GF3. I'd like some nice performance, such as that of the 8+ pipeline cards, like the Radeon 9700 and up, and the GF-FX 5800 and up cards. However, the obvious problem is heat. I'd like buy a fast card, but slow it down a ...

The best way to shield your sound card seems to be using an external sound card... Several USB models exist.

I've got a GF3 Ti200 - 128mb, with the big 3x3 heatsink, and the tiny little fan. I took the fan off, and after a bit of under-clocking, it runs stable. It runs very hot, but no problems with lockups or artifacts. There is an article on under-volting a GForce 2 or 3, thats what I'm trying next to co...

I've got a GF3 Ti200, and in the interest of silence, i've taken the fan completely off... Yes it runs a bit hot, and was actually unstable in some 3d games... So I downloaded the nvidia bios editor, and set the default GPU and Memory speed down about 15%... Now it runs flawless fanlessly, without t...

I've picked up 4 SilenX 80mm fans, and have found them reasonably quiet... These are the ones with thermistor controller fanspeed, which is a nice feature, and were fairly cheap (C$15 per). As to the CFM, Bels, and other "objective" measurements... You know how it goes, the manufacturers love to app...
