I've got two of the Spinpoints - one for 14 months and the other for just over a month. They are both fantastic drives and are both quieter than my VF900 on 6-7V - seek noise is very low even when sitting bare against my 1/4" acrylic case, two feet from my ears.

Whine from S12-380...RMA?

Hello, I put toghether my new system two days ago, and I have noticed a very distinct, high pitched whine coming from my new S12-380. It is related to hard drive activity, such that when the HD is active, the noise goes away. I have tried connecting the HD to all 5 SATA connectors as well as connect...

Shuttle + Zalman VGA cooler?

I have been looking online, but cannot find any references to this question. Will a Zalman VGA cooler work with a standard shuttle case (PCI, then AGP) without blocking the PCI slot? I am looking to get the new 939 Shuttle case with a 6600GT (I am aware of which card to get to make sure the Zalman w...

Balsa wood works GREAT for shrouds! It absorbs quite a bit of fan vibration, is easy to work with, is VERY cheap, and is super lightweigh and cuttable. I have all of my 80mm fan spots opened (removed grill) and have 80 to 120mm balsa shrouds on them. Check on eBay for 3" balsa sheets, I think I reme...

Still anything that creates this much power is *not* going to be quiet. These kinds of systems are put into machine rooms so quietness is not such an issue anyway. ....with huge air conditioning units outside to cool the room......and lets not forget about the necessary air circulation inside the r...

Heater Core Tubing Size

On the common heater core list, I have been looking at 2-274 (FEDCO, 399026 GDI), and noticed that the IN and OUT is listed as .625" (5\8"). Does this mean that it will fit 5\8"OD tubing (1\2"ID)? Would there actually be barbs, or would there just be inserts for the tubing, where really strong hose ...

I love my Hitachi 16ms monitor. A VGA connection is an analogue connection. Your video card creates a digital signal, and a CRT monitor displays a digital image (010100101010). It has to be converted to analogue, then back to digital. There is a very small inherent amount of interference. DVI (Digit...

What are you looking for as for pricing? And for the external box, are you going to provide plans for those who choose to make the box themselves?

Im new to WC'ing, and have some imput on what you are asking for: 1) Since this is SPCR, it needs to be quiet. Maybe an option to submerge the pump in a res. for further silencing? 2) It needs to be able to fit in all sorts of cases. I have a small case, and still want to be able to fit it in my cas...

Do you even need the heatercore? With a cooling loop that big, I would think that the external cooling of the water would alliviate the need for a heatercore, and thus, a fan. I have seen completly silent setups with people doing this, with the only noise coming from their HD.

Im using an SLK 900A with a 92mm Silenx fan...the fan is unaudible, and with my 2600+, load temps never exceed 48deg C. Your temps would probably be higher.
