I use a Dell D600 for work. Its only got a 1.4ghz Pentium M but its quiet when the fan is off but as soon as it kicks in at 2000RPM it can be a little noisy. The Machine does get warm but its hardly a scorcher, the only issue is on the left hand palm rest the HDD is on top of the battery and this ge...

Asus RD580 is A8R32-MVP - Passvie Crossfire

Hi Everyone, It’s been a while since I posted on here. So I was reading the Inq and saw this - http://www.theinq.com/?article=29737 Like other Asus deluxe motherboards I thought it may be passive and found a picture at this site - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=345216 an...

Quick 3700AMB question

Ive got a 3700AMB and i know im going to cut off the rear grill. but im wondering whether or not i should bother chopping the front grill. Its a reasonably recent revision of the case and has the sonata style grill on the front. There wont be an intake fan only the exhaust (for now) and the front fa...

IMHO, the best way to do this would be to prepare a shim card that goes into the AGP slot and provides an AGP connector for the graphics card and all the necessary measurement points. Shouldn't be too hard to do if you have the equipment. You mean like an AGP version of a PCI Riser card? im pretty ...

Does anyone out there know any thing more about this? I know its pretty old news, but i never herd what happend to it, or ever saw any more pictures of it. It looks interesting to say the least, if you look carefully theres no 40MM psu fan.

Must say im highly impressed with the article, cant wait for the Nvidia follow up. Its about time definitive mesurements were made. Ive never used a ATI card(ive only had 1 new card since my GeForce SDR) but the readings on the 9600 are amazing, i knew it was low but not that low, needless to say fo...

Enermax Noisetaker V2.0

Looks like Enermax has come out with version 2 of the noisetaker, and amazingly enough it looks like that stiff sleeving is gone. I dont have hosting but http://www.enermax.com.tw/upload/pringcore.jpg is a link to the new cables. Would be good to see an updated review. Even if its just an update to ...

Well I’ve sent an email off to Enermax like suggested, and will update when i get a reply. Mike didn’t the PSU trip out on you anyway when running it at full spec? Exceeding 20A could be the reason for it? How did you test it with the PSU having 2 rails (loading different ampage rails independently)...

Strange Enermax NoiseTaker 475 Specs? Help?

Ok, no denying it seems like its the best PSU out of Enermax in a long time. But in reading the specs on Enermax's site i noticed somthing strange. It seems as if the Max current on the 12V line (both lines) is 20A. as in the specs it says that : Over current Protection - +12V1 & +12V2: 20A (max) Wo...

That's one way of looking at it. Here is another view: At the same RPM the tips of the 120mm fan move through the air at a higher speed than the tips of an 80mm fan. Tip vortices are giving most problems (ask any sailor) So I would vote for 2 80mm fans, each fed with a different voltage to prevent ...

My Ex-Flatmate a few years back had a GF2MX400 with a passive heatsink glued on, he didnt notice for months that it had fallen off, the card worked fine, admittedly rarely played intensive games, but none the less it was an impressive feat for that little old card. but i wouldnt recomend you try it ...

Worst PSU Ever.

Can anyone beat Maxpower? Seriously. I have a "400W" unit here and its basicly +3.3V = 26A +5V = 30A +12V = 12A But at 25C, and the other thing that gets me is that AC INPUT CURRENT: 6A RMS MAX. FOR 115 VAC 3A RMS MAX. FOR 230 VAC Is really low, any explination for this? other than its crap (which i...

Ok, anyone can feel free to contradict me on this, im not 100% sure im right. but anyway. In theory the area for air expelled with a 120mm fan is roughly 113cm. Where as with a 80mm fan its 50cm, so even if you have 2x 80mm fans your still not getting the same area to expell the air, no matter what ...

Yeah, going along with some other posts. The path through the body has much to do with the shock danger.
