PartEleven, That info hurts. I was hoping to use a seagate next but if it draws more than the WD on spinup, that's a no go. It was "common knowledge" on these forums a while back. I have no means to measure but a reviewer did and WD GP did draw more than its contemporaries at that time. It may have ...

Sorry about the double post but I searched for performance comparisons and if the 3d performance matters then the 4760 is a rough match to the 9600gt. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125274 The 9600gt will draw more power and may require some extra power connection. The card...

Well if the drives have failed then maybe they can't access the net? If after this long period it is still cloudy as to exactly what this WD feature does then I believe that is a flaw in the marketer's actions. I can't help with pinout but I do have an idea. Get butt connectors one size larger than the size that matches your wires. Identify the 12 volt and its ground on the wire that runs to the molex. Cut these. Strip the ends. Get an existing P4 connector to molex adaptor and cut off the molex and strip ...

Over time the coconut oil will develop polar compounds that are electrically conductive. You might look into fractionated coconut oil along with a non conductive stabilizer. I don't know the exact properties of particular stabilizers but there are a number of them. Outrageously expensive silicone li...

yamawho, Watch out for power requirements with this board. Yes the power supply impinging on the heatsink is a concern. Newegg sells a coolermaster 1U heatsink that should solve this problem. There is also an alpha novatek wingfin from plycon. I gave some bad info earlier. The southbridge will only accept a 10/100 interface chip and the northbridge to southbridge bus is 1GB/s. Assuming that intel properly makes this board, there is no doubt in my mind that this board can drive a gbE card at significantly faster speed than a 10/100. I'm pretty sure it can drive a gbE and the onboard lan at the same time while still providing faster than 100mbit through a pci gbE. Whether i...

gigabit
I have decided to try this board. The tech docs I skimmed through yesterday mentioned a choice of 10/100 and gigabit ethernet for the southbridge depending upon interface chip used. I think the lack of gigabit may be a blessing in disguise. The option of a better quality interface card on pci may de...

gigabit?
OK, I have to ask. Earlier in this thread it was postulated that this board is not capable of pushing gigabit ethernet.
