The big problem with Fry's, as evidenced by many recent trips where I left empty handed, is their prices. $135 for a Seasonic Super Silencer 400 (can get the 460 for $125 online). Basically, if it's not in their sale flyer, don't buy it from them, you're getting gouged. That said, I've gotten some i...

Actually, no, the loudest thing in my case are the two Chinaflo 120mm L1As on my radiator. (Grr.. didn't know they'd be the china made ones). The low grinding noise they make is louder than the power supply. Whether or not it'll be the loudest thing in YOUR system is very hard for me to judge. Hopin...

I recently picked up the A3 460W model. It seems very quiet to me. But then I'm moving from an Enermax 475 Active PFC that whined it's little head off (it's now in my wife's machine.. which isn't nearly as quiet in other way as mine). Seriously though, it's pretty silent. Fan doesn't really spin up ...

Well, since RMAing the unit wasn't really an option (I opened it up.. DOH), I went ahead and got a Seasonic Super Silencer 460W A3. It's very quiet, and no whine! Moved the Enermax to my wife's machine, and so far no whine when in her machine (though hers is not nearly as quiet in other ways as mine...

Agreed...The silverprop seems like a better bet, though still relatively expensive, even though it's only HALF the cost of the DangerDen. Going to wait a bit on the new vid card anyway, as the 6800 GTs are still selling for mostly above list, and ATI hasn't really released a resopnse to the 6800 GT ...

Just an update. Got an email back from PolarFlo. So now the only question is how does the TT VGA compare to my existing Maze4GPU: I believe that our TT VGA will work with it. We have had a few customers order them for that card and we have not heard of any incompatibilities. Thanks ----- Original Me...

Waterblocks for nvidia 6800
Starting this thread to try to get a handle on the waterblocks that will work with nVidia 6800 cards. So far we have: DangerDen $125!! Ouch. SilverProp FusionHL ~$65 (in the US). PolarFlo TT VGA $50 Does anyone know how good the SilverProp of the PolarFlo are? More interested in the PolarFlo, as it'...

I'll check out silverprop.. the swiftech however, are 3/8" OD fittings. My system uses 1/2" ID tubing. I'd hate to add the restriction of adapters. My Maze4GPU works great on my Radeon.. annoying I have to replace it. But until ATI comes out with a 16 pipeline part for less than $500, the 6800 GT se...

What disturbs me about the whole nv6800 waterblock situation is that the waterblock will likely make my choice of next gen video card for me. I already have a Maze4GPU for my Radeon 9800 Pro, which works just fine on an X800XT. I had been considering getting a 6800GT, but not at an extra $125!!! for...

Anyone have experience with the antec 120mm pro DBB Fan?
This one: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?submit=Go&DEPA=0&CMP=4r00gle&description=N82E16835129030 I'm interested due to the very quiet operation of the fan that came with my antec P160 case. Much quieter than my Panaflo M1As (though obviously pushing less air). Wanted to pick up a cou...

Well, I got annoyed enough to open the thing up today. Poked around with a pencil to see if I could identify the coil or component that was making the whine. Unfortunately, it was a bust. There seems to be a lot of "glue" like material already in there from the factory, most likely to dampen these s...

Yeah, apologies for not searching better before posting. I did last night and found a number of other people having the same problem. And that it perhaps has something to do with my 9800 Pro. Interestingly, after powering the system down overnight, the noise is gone, which suggests it might also hav...

Coil noise with Enermax noisetaker 470 Active PFC
Greetings, I have my new silet PC setup, and using recommendations from the main site I bought an Enermax Noisetaker 470. Unfortunately, though the rest of my machine is very quiet, my Noisetaker is not quiet. The fans are inaudible, but I get a high frequency whine out of the supply that seems to v...

I've been curious about these sorts of problems. Do you need light to get into the system for algae to grow? Given that algae needs light for photosynthesis, if I don't have a window in my case and no UV lights, do I need to worry about algae? Or is there some other sort of bacterial agent that grow...

Chylld, I just wanted to thank you for being a great balancing force in the insane world of watercooling. There are a lot of zealots out there, as this is a hobby for a lot of people. And there are many very dedicated overclockers out there looking for that 1degC difference in their CPU temps. I cre...

I'm using a double heatercore in an Antec P160 case. You can see a partially completed web log of it here:
http://home.san.rr.com/klugs/
Takes a bit of modification on the case, and leave you sans 3.5" bays, but depending on your drive needs might be ok.

Best fans for use with a radiator...
Ok guys.. still waiting for my motherboard to show up, but have most of the watercooling setup installed. I chose to buy 2 Panaflo M1A's (undervolted to 7V) and while they seem to pull a decent amount of air through the radiator (a danger den double heatercore), they have an annoying mount of what I...

Replacing a GA-K8NSNXP-939 DPS fan
I was thinking about getting this motherboard: http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-K8NSNXP-939.htm The nf3 chipset fan could be easily replaced with a zalman, but anyone have any ideas about this DPS fan next to the CPU? Nice to have clean power, but not at the cost of an extra ...

I have another question.. how do you mount the various pumps out there? I understand some people seem to use some sorthobane from McMaster to dampen vibration, but how does the pump get affixed to the case so that if I move the PC the pump doesn't move around. I haven't seen any good photos of that ...

I think it would be good to add elaboration on how to build a T-line and how to use that to fill and bleed the system. Sounds like a better way to go than a reservoir to me. Hehe, that's excatly my point though Chylld. I don't have a radiator repair shop, and have never even heard of such a thing. My car hasn't needed anything buy oil changes for the last 8 years. In other words, that's not a normal resource I'd have handy. I'd have to go through the yellow pages and pi...
