I am running into a roadblock with overclocking. The problem is the motherboard temperature with Northbridge, above 40 degrees. How do people attach a fan to the side of the case? I am not into drilling holes.

If you think your PC is noisy, the first thing to do is replace/remove the sunon 80mm. I found the sunon 80mm so noisy, just can't stand it.

What's your room temperature? Assuming it's around the 23 deg C, the temperatures are in the normal range. Did you use third party thermal paste, such as AS5? It should bring down your CPU a few degrees.

Think the Plus comes with the heat duct.
blake wrote:The picture of the HR-01 Plus looks the same as the HR-01 released in 2006 (and still, I think, the best CPU cooler given its superb performance and fanless design)

What are the differences with the plus version?

Based on the pictures, you can see that your heatsink and the cpu are not in contact with each other flatly. It's only touching each other around the centre area. This is why I suggested last week that your heatsink is loose. But anyway, you got it under 60 deg C, you can leave it as long you're hap...

Very nice job. You inspire me to redo my cables inside my own Antec Solo, later. Yes, for dual channel memory, it has to be (A1 + B1) or (A2 + B2). A1 + A2 or B1 + B2 are on the same channel, so NOT dual channel. I don't see the Nexus 120mm as intake at the top of the case, doing anything for you. I...

Interesting. Why did you taped/blocked off the bottom vent with tape? Doesn't the hot air stay at the bottom? Does it help in drawing hot air out?

The homemade solution look interesting. Do you have any temperature data as to how much difference it made? My evga 8800gts 320mb is tolerable quiet at 60% fan speed. But anything higher is getting loud for me, especially at 100%. Whilst I had the case apart I took a better picture of the GF8800GTS ...

Ok. these Scythe Minebea Nmb Silent fans are not as good as I hoped(both 92mm and 120mm). They make the humming noise. It's tolerable, but not what I expected, silent, as the name suggested. I saw the new Scythe Minebea Nmb Silent Ic 92MM Cooling Fan 1400RPM 18DBA 24.7CFM at NCIX. Decided the spec l...

Is the 80mm fan noisy by itself? If not, then are you blowing at the headsink or sucking air from the heatsink?

I also was trying to pick between P182 vs Solo. If you don't need SLI, more than 3 hard drives, then I would go with the SOLO. Pretty happy with the Solo, so far.

This is good to know. I plan to put one at the top slot. From the sound of it, I won't have any problem, unless I put another one at the bottom. You can use a Scythe 100mm fan in the bottom fan mount without any modification, just you need to make new fan mounting holes if you want to use 2 Scythe 1...

Unfortunately, there is no local shop here that have the Nexus Real Silent fan.

What about Panaflo 92mm Ultra Quiet Fan? Is it any good?

As a last resort, I'll get the Scythe 100mm fan and cut it to fit the Antec Solo?

Antec Solo 92mm fan

Hi, I just finished building my PC. So far, I overclocked my E6420 to 3GHZ. Currently looking for two 92mm fan to cool things inside. I read somewhere that some 92mm may not fit in the casing(probably the scythe 92mm)? Does anyone have any good recommendation for a quiet/silent 92mm fan for Antec So...

Very disappointed after I took all suggestion from SPCR

Like most people here, I hate noise from my computer. I used to own a AMD, but it was loud as the jet engine. Heard the Intel P4 is not as hot, switched over. So, I took all the suggestions and recommendations from this forum. After all is done, I am still faced with a computer that makes noise, tha...
