Re: Steve Jobs is the Messiah and Apple is a Religion
Regardless, your claim that the GUI was stolen from Xerox is false. Without needing to go into details, it is clear that a deal was struck between the two companies, as you have now rightly pointed out. You might like to reflect on how your consuming hatred for Apple is driving you to distort the tr...

I've used both the Welland ME-220PN and ME-240. Not as quiet as a good suspension setup, but they seem to work well.

I haven't tried the Logitech Z2300 but reviews that I've read indicate that they are good value for money. The bass is very powerful so they should be great for movies etc. Be mindful of your neighbours though!

Re: Corsair F180 vs. Zalman S Series vs. Kingston SSDNow V+1
I am personally fed up of every peripheral I buy (NAS and router being the latest culprits) having bright blue LEDs Agree 100%. Blue LEDs were "cool" maybe 5 or so years ago, but they seem to be in just about everything these days. Highly irritating and completely unnecessary, they have become an i...

Re: why the sillyness.?
when you say "nudism" do you mean that as it is now commonly ment (public nuditiy in an area restricted to people who are all nude, e.g. nudist beaches and holiday camps), or simply not covering up totally and all of the time whilst at home.? Both, although my parents weren't nudists as such; we we...

Re: why the sillyness.?
It would be great if we could keep these discussions civil. What's the point of name-calling and putting down entire countries? Seems kind of childish to me. I don't understand why sex and nudity are considered harmful. Actually, the idea that sex is harmful is itself harmful. It is a perversion. As...

Re: Best Budget Silent CPU Cooler?
I recently built a system for a friend using a CM H212+ on an i7-870. I'm very impressed with its performance, and the price is excellent. I also like it because it's not huge, and it's easy to install. The fan isn't that great, but it's easy to swap it for a Nexus or similar. I would definitely cho...

Re: Amd 5670 or 5770
Recently built a PC for a friend using a 5770 Silent Cell. The case has very low airflow and is completely stock, although I had to remove the drive cage to fit the video card. Temperatures running Furmark peaked around 84C at 25C ambient, which I think is quite impressive.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see what the problem is here. Is the enclosure for 2.5in drives? I've owned several of these over the years, with none of them having any of the problems mentioned here. Each of them was bought on ebay for a few dollars.

Re: Interested in suggestions for low power 3 monitor card
I just built a system for a friend who wants a 3 monitor setup. After a lot of reading I ended up getting a 5770 silent cell. The passive cooling works very well, and the card supports Eyefinity. However the one drawback with most of these cards is that you will need to have a Display Port input on ...

Would it be possible to make the frame out of something with better insulation qualities such as wood? I think aluminium will conduct too much heat away.

To reiterate what I and others have said, you are placing your system under artificially high loads. Prime + Furmark is an extreme torture test which you most likely will never be able to reproduce in normal use. Although they are useful tools to evaluate the stability of a system, I don't think it ...

I agree with some of the other posts here, namely: 1. CPU load temperature is high, but not dangerous, and you won't get those conditions in normal use; 2. Intake fans are not needed, and they would make your system louder; 3. Open the slots below the graphic card, this should have a significant eff...

I really dislike blue LEDs. When they first appeared it was all gee whizz, but it's a fad that hasn't gone away as quickly as I would have liked, and the damn things are everywhere. They're so overused that they make products look kitsch. The cheapo case of my current PC came with blue LEDs (surpris...

I don't think you need to build a custom case. Does that also go for the i7-920? Do you have any other suggestion for a cool (i.e. "cold") processor? If you want a "cold" processor then the i3-530 would be a good choice, and it's inexpensive. I think you will be fine with the single Nexus rear case fan running at minimum speed off the CPU fan header. I don't think the GPU will be an issue, although they do tend to run a bit hot but not enough to be of concern. I've got an 8500GT in a similar configuration to your proposed system, and it'...
