Mike,
May I ask why you need an external shunt resistor to measure voltage and apply Ohm's law? You can easily splice in an ammeter directly.

Mike, I agree with Monkeh16. Power consumption of twice what the USB 2.0 specification allows is not right. Heck, even USB 3.0 provides a maximum of only 4.5 W. You do caution in the article that this figure might not be accurate, but you state in your post above as if it is. I feel that this should...

I'd love to snag a T-Amp sample (and keep it), but I'm not getting my hopes up. Trimark, the company that made the chip inside went belly up about a year ago. I think you meant Tripath . I remember reading a diyAudio.com forum thread some time ago about their going out of business, but I suspect th...

Yes, Anandtech is in need of a copy editor, but I think they're in more need of <gasp> good writers. Except for Anand himself (and perhaps a couple others), the reviewers there write way too many words. Get to the point already, and fluffy adjectives (and adverbs) make a good article not. They say t...

Thanks, angelkiller. I forgot to mention that my monitor is a 24" @ 1920x1200, which is way too big for my current Radeon 9500 non-Pro to handle. I was hoping the X1950 Pro would be sufficient for some older games running at full resolution as well as newer ones at reduced res, but the XT is indeed ...

X1950 Pro or XT?
Hello, I'm buying parts for a midrange build that will replace my current system (in sig). I've already bought a 3600+ Brisbane and 2GB RAM and have decided on some form of 690G mobo to keep chipset power consumption low. I want to keep it all-AMD to simplify driver installation, and since the HD 26...

If the storage drive is in the Linux machine it will still be Linux reading and writing to the disk, even if you upload the files to it from a remote machine using samba or similar. NTFS writing support is supposed to be stable using ntfs-3g, however I still see no real reason to use that instead o...

A little update on this oft-delayed project. I have the VIA board and Kingston RAM (both from eBay) and have tested them with an old case/PSU and optical drive. I like that the pictures of the Thermaltake cases include the "please no photographs" signs. That's a nice touch. According to Cyril at The Tech Report: "They had those signs, but when I asked their marketing dude he said taking pictures was okay." I wonder why the signs were there in the fi...

I'd install CPU/HSF after installing and firmly securing motherboard into the case - this way you won't worry about hurting motherboard. Then again, the Thermalright HS is quite a beefy unit and could be hard to mount in the confines of the case, especially the cramped mATX NSK3300. I'd advise the ...

My only question is: Why are you so interested in this case now? It's based on one of the most widely rebranded cases in PC case history, and it's been around for a while. I think others can tell you that while the chassis is well-built and sturdy with good airflow, too much noise escapes from the d...
