New 3800+ system please comment
Hi. I am building a new system for my father. Noise is not the most important issue but he would like it to be quiet. He will be using it mainly for office programs and image handling (photoshop). Here's what i have in mind. Asus M2NPV-MX, nForce430 / 6150 AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+, AM2, EE, BOX Kingsto...

I have reviewed both 80 mm versions at my website. Both are great fans. The noiselevel of the 1000 model is only 14 dB(A) at 12 volt! All sound measurements are listed in tables so even though you don't understand danish, you should be able to understand the most important part of the review. Sound ...

Does the '-' mean not measurable as in silent? Yes the background noise at night is 14 - 15 dB(A). We can not measure any lower than that. All fans are practically silent at 14 dB(A) since a very quiet bedroom is around 14 dB(A) Just by looking at the tables, it would seem the Yate loon would be th...

I have tested the S-FLEX series on my website and I was impressed. They have no bearing noise and sounds very smooth in my ears. I just did a roundup with Nexus, Yate Loon, Papst and Scythe and Nexus and Scythe comes out on top. Sound level is measured at different RPM and at 12, 9, 7 and 5 volt. It...

is there any affordable instrument that reaches approx 25db ? I am afraid there isn't. I have just been checking out the market since I needed a sound level meter to do test for my website. I ended up buying a Bruel & Kjaer like the one used here at SPCR only mine is a newer model (1976 I think). T...

Also, on re-reading the thread, I noticed that Halcyon had already posted this card. Apologies for the duplication. It's a good thing that you did post it again. I think I took it for a XL instead of a Pro the first time (almost did it this time to...). That's why it is not in the list. I will chec...

Hi everybody I want to start writing CPU Heatsink reviews for my website. The problem is that the CPU, Motherboard and RAM marked is in a phase of transition. I need to make a list of recommended CPU’s for my website. Since I don’t have a complete overview of the marked and options I hope that you all will help me out creating the list. A calibration device was a part of package among many other things when I bought the sound level meter. The calibration device acts as a sound source and produces exactly 94 Db at 1000 MHz. A special barometer is used to correct for different airpressure. This is really good stuff. I plan to calibra...

I'm curious to know what your going to use a 12V source to power the fans. I've settled on a broken hard drive enclure. I am going to use a small universal power supply that goes from 3.5 to 14 volt. I will be using a potentiometer and a voltmeter to get the power I want. There's a discussion going...

For using a bicycle speedometer to measure rpm, I don't think it's a good idea, the magnet is heavy enough that it might make strange effects on the fan...
