Four fans fitted with the option of two more and you call this silent??? The only silent fan is one that is broken or stationary.

120 mm Cases
IMHO the best 120 mm case is the Compucase 6A19. It has four 5.25" bays, the Sonata has three. And it doesn't have the perforations that HokieESM mentioned. I believe these holes cause a short circuit for airflow through the power supply. Try fitting a Seasonic or Fortron 120 mm fanned power supply....

Since the purpose of a forum is healthy discussion, may I beg to differ. Why should the weight of the system matter? The only problem lies with heavy heatsinks attached to the cpu that are in excess of AMD/Intel weight limits. You add a pump, yes, but with a quality product and flexible mounts, vibr...

The PSU is the poor relation of the computer. People spend a fortune on a mobo and the processor but are happy with a cheap Chinese generic PSU. The system will only be as good as the weakest link. There are PSUs sold in the UK which are of the 'unlimited' variety. No safety circuits - no short circ...

We have been selling this case in the UK for several months and it has been hugely popular. I think it superior to the Sonata for many reasons. One customer has bought five!! Cut out the front fan grille area, blank off the rear fan grille area and fit a 120 mm fanned PSU - Seasonic or Fortron. You ...

The most commonly used pumps are the Eheim, for one major reason - their reliability. I tried to find alternatives but a major importer of small aquarium pumps refused to sell me anything else! The 1046 should handle any system and Innovatek have a 12 volt version (and you can get a conversion kit f...

I only handle Innovatek kits as they are the market leader. They use 120 mm fans and every kit has a 7 volt cable, so the fan runs barely half speed. The latest kits have Papst fans. This is the only fan in the system apart from the power supply. Use a 120 mm fanned power supply - Seasonic or Fortro...

Hi Shimmyhill
The offer was for a batch of 350W Auroras and 400W 120 mm fanned PSUs. If you want standard 300W and 350W 120 mm PSUs, these are both a current line and are in stock. Visit the website at www.KoolnQuiet.co.uk

Right. You want a twin 120 mm fan sized radiator. May I suggest that the best place to fit this is in the top of a tower case. Try one 120 mm fan at the hot end of the rad and a second fan if you need it. Suck through the rad. This will allow you to fit a twin radiator in virtually any case of your ...

Hi Dis. Up to half a dozen of each would be ideal and I would put the rest into stock. Where do you get active PFC as being hotter than passive PFC? Active PFC is superior to passive, is quite complex and costs more. It is more efficient so there is less heat wasted. It is also quiet as the harmonic...

Maybe I can throw some light on the availability of Fortron PSUs in the UK. FSP Group are only offerring the 350W Aurora in the UK and it is 20% dearer than the standard unit. It appears the illuminated fan is very expensive. The 120 mm 400W Fortron PSU is 50% dearer than the 350W model. It has acti...

Maybe I can clarify the Seasonic situation. The new line of these PSUs, including the 120 mm fanned units, will not be in the UK until Q4 - that is the fourth quarter of this year. That means any time from the beginning of next month. The distributor could be no more clearer than that. As soon as th...

Seems like I should put my two cents in. I am a reseller of PSUs in the UK. I can sell what I like so I sell what I test and think to be the best. I regard Antec as the best alround PSU - top of the shop. I also sell Seasonic, Fortron and HEC. Many specials are only manufacturer's base units with be...

I posted information on the Compucase A6 case which is similar to the Sonata. I think it is better. With the Antec holes at the top sides, surely you would end up with a closed loop with these holes feeding the power supply rather than warm case air. Also the A6 has four 5.25" bays, not 3. It has fi...

PSU Specifications
Somebody should do a full detailed explanation of the rated figure for a PSU. Basically it means zilch. You have to delve into the specific figures for the unit in question to see what you actually get. For example, in virtually all PSUs, the key 3.3v and 5v rails are interconnected electrically. Th...

What is all this ******* about clicking on Papst fans? I am a UK reseller of Papst fans and I have a). never had a customer complain, b). never had an item returned. I run these fans extensively and I have never heard this infamous clicking. I have spoken to the UK arm of Papst and I have spoken to ...

Great review, Mike. But the PSU looked a bit generic under the skin. Could you not have weighed it to see how it fits into the Power PC & Cooling scale of weights? And if you look at the curves, their system is not all that clever. If the standard straight line thermistor kicked in later, it would v...
