Not a single Samsung failure so far, I've had -two SP2504C's -HD321KJ -HM160HI -four HD154UI's Although to be completely honest, I haven't used these drives for long enough to make any conclusions. I've used one SP2504C for two years maybe, HD321KJ for maybe another two years. HM160HI is in laptop a...

You do not need AHCI for SSD to work. They will work just fine in IDE mode. However, SSD drives, at least intel drives perform almost twice as fast at small read/writes with AHCI enabled compared to IDE mode. You just need decent controller, for example early nVidia controllers had problems with AHC...

Heh, the reason I went with Abit during my last round of upgrades was because then current P35 based Asus motherboards were too power hungry and because my experience with Asus was bad. Old P3V4X (still remember the name rofl) was good but had faulty temp sensor which would raise alarm needlessly. P...

Get MLC based drive if you want to go SSD for boot drive, they should last you long time. If you can't get intel drive at reasonable price get an indilinx based drive. They cost around $200 for 60GB or $130 for 30GB. For storage get 502HI like mond said. They are quiet and should be more than fast e...

Looks exactly like Scythe Kaze Master except for more wattage and multicolor display. Not sure why you would need 30W per channel unless you're planning on running blowdryers. Nexus 1000RPM fan draws 0.30A which is less than one third of what Kaze Master is rated at. Gentle Typhoons that I just boug...

Xoxide going out of business sale
Xoxide is going out of business. The prices are not spectacular, but if you need couple of fans or fan controllers now is the time. I ordered couple of fans from xpcgear several days ago, could have saved myself $10-15 if I waited. Oh well, it's always the case that good deals come through after you...

I use this ram in my main PC and fileserver/MSSQLDB rig, 8GB each. I use four 1GB sticks of older Micron PC2-1000/2.2V ram in my 24/7 rig. Those are the older ones that are infamous for burning out easily when clocked at max speeds/voltages. So far they are fine, haven't had to RMA them, but I never...

Scary if true. I got three IP35Pro's and so far they've been nearly flawless. One is running 24/7, other one is running in a fileserver/MSSQL DB rig 16 hours a day, third one in my main PC, all three rigs run with 4 or 8GB or ram installed with all four memory slots occupied. So far there has been c...

Heh, seems like a lot of good feedback on this fan. My Nexus exhaust fan is nearing its life, it has trouble starting at low voltages and hub noise is increasing, when I touch it I can feel lubrication is gone. Only problem is I've tried so many fans that I think this might be just another "flavor o...

I intend to buy a Dremel very soon, because the rear fan grill is very restrictive. You don't say... It's painfull just to look at it... You should have done it when you got the case before putting any of your components. If you do it now, fine metal dust from dremelling will settle all over your m...

$200 sound about right for 12GB of DDR3 for low end stuff. You'll have to pay a little more for better sticks, but it shouldn't cost more than $300. Good thing prices have come down so much, I remember seeing announcements of well above $1K. Crazy. As for who needs this stuff, some people do. I'm us...

Just FYI, Newegg has the drives in stock, however thanks to their automatic price gouge script, you can now buy 80GB G2 OEM version for $500, 80GB G2 Retail for $600, 160GB G2 OEM for $900, and if you find too much money in your wallet you can pick up 160GB G2 Retail drive for a low low price of $99...

Interested in having one of these in a external harddrive casing, anyone tried this and could comment on the noise? is there better "noise" options 1-2tb hdd's? I got my 160GB from buy.com ebay store, I also used 10% bing cashback, so essentially I got my drive for $400 shipped. Still expensive, but to put it into perspective newegg has the drive listed at $500, currently OOS, but they had it in stock for a couple of hours this weekend. Anyway, I installed ...

Not really related to ASUS, but I've read that a lot of P55 features are being delayed, in particular no SATA3 and no USB3 in early boards. This kind of killed it for me. I was toying with idea of upgrading to 32nm i5 or i7, but it seems like there is little point in doing that right now as the feat...

2x Samsung HD154UI drives $200 shipped (combo deal)
Apparently it's only been a couple of months since these drives went on sale and newegg is already running combo deal on F2 HD154UI 1.5TB EcoGreen 5400RPM drives. Basically buy two drives in one order and get $40 off. Two drives come to $200 or $100 each, free shipping and reputable retailer, what's...

Seems like I'm going to take my chances with Samsung. I don't like parking thing on WD and the fact that they use 4 platters instead of 3 is disappointing, Seagate has been slipping lately, and it seems it's also using 4 platters.
