Typical to form (seeing as I just bought some), I stumbled across some sorbothane yesterday after rowing. Someone's made it into a seat pad (to cover the seat in the rowing boat so that your bum gets a comfier ride), then the owner had forgotten about it and left it in a puddle... I'm not sure that ...

Possible ghetto Zalman heatpipe mod
I previously had my hard disk watercooled on the sides using a custom block I soldered from some copper sheet and copper pipes. This was all wrapped up in magic fleece and I was pretty happy with the low noise levels emitted, while the drive temperatures were great. When I moved back to air cooling ...

How do I tell which revision my silentmaxx is please? I'm pretty sure my drive temps went up when I installed my disk in the silentmaxx, so I may well have a revision 1. I think I'll stick with the silentmaxx, given the choice. Has anyone tried mounting a large heatsink onto the heatpipe of t...

If you were in the UK, I'd suggest going to a bike shop (of the pedal variety) like a Halfords - they're likely to offer smaller quantities of oils than exclusively car places. A teflon based oil for bikes shouldn't set you back too much, and then you can go on a mission curing squeaky things the wo...

I know of one UK guy who got his imported. I mailed him about it, and he said that he knew one UK watercooling vendor was getting them in, but they haven't materialised yet. I'm giving serious thought to importing two of the revision 2 pumps, but I know soon after they arrive, they'll appear on some...

My Nx4090 from kustom arrived today. I also got 3 of their Nexus Orange 120mm fans. I'm pretty pleased by their low noise level, though I won't work them into my system for a little while yet. Has anyone else noticed that the Nexus ATX connector seems to be missing one wire? I hope it's just another...

It is common that high current fans are sold with 4 pin headers only. So a fan with a 3 pin header is likely to draw little current, so connecting to the motherboard is usually not a problem. Checking the specification is of course the best things to do. Unfortunately it's not always the case - I o...

I registered specially to reply to this  (Been lurking for a while though). If you're in the UK, then Halfords stock a dual bottle thing called Heavy Duty Radiator Cleaner. The first bottle allegedly "removes limescale and rust particles" and "clears blocked cooling systems", while the second ...
