CPU recommendation for Server mostly spent idle/low usage

I currently run a Q6600 with 4Gb as a server/desktop on Kubuntu 64bit. The machine spends 90% of its time doing low power tasks - SSH server, squid proxy, apache (for webmin, sabnzbd, deluge), samba fileserver. The usage as a desktop is simple web browsing, openoffice, email etc. Nothing that should...

Keenly watching this thread. I am going down the same route and want a low power fileserver with a bit more power to do some other minor additional tasks such as being an SSH server, Apache, Squid proxy etc. I already have 7 HDDs of the 3.5 inch variety in a big server box (which mostly sits there i...

I like to know as well if anyone can help. Similar setup to you with the board, CPU and SI97a. Speedfan usually shows around 48-50 and I have a Panaflo at full whack (need to get a zalman fan mate). I have just purchased most of the bits for my home server. I have gone against popular opinion about case and gone for the Akasa Eclipse 62 - simply because it offers good cooling (120mm fans), good space (about 7-8 hdd slots + 5 5 1/2 bays) and size (reviews indicate good space internally to work w...

Buying 4HDD for Raid

I posted this on another forum - but wanted some advice with regards to silence as well. I am going to buy 4 hdd's for a RAID 5 setup. Coolermaster 4-in-3 for Antec SLK3700BQE

Has anyone used the Coolermaster 4-in-3 in other cases apart from the intended Coolermaster Stacker case? Thanks for the pic of your card - I found I had an old Intel P4 stock cooler which had a busted fan - so gonna stick that on using a thermal pad to the GPU this weekend. Your pic also answered my question of which way to orientate the h/s best (horizontal fins versus vertical fins).
