These have been floating around for a while, just figured I'd add them to this thread...my solution in the venerable Lian-Li PC-xxxx. http://www.moparextreme.com/img/project/28.jpg http://www.moparextreme.com/img/project/30.jpg I found a bulk supplier for the o-rings, so I'm working on something ver...

Thanks for the suggestion. I had been kicking that idea around (dropping the front intake fan) and as of late have been running the rear fan as exhaust without the duct. There doesn't seem to be any impact to overall system stability, and at the time I thought it may have been impacting my overclock...

Rectangular window please 8) and have it thick(thick acrylic dampen sound rather well) However I prefer the common coolant color like blue or green, amber looks like tea :) It's actually Birch Beer! :D LOL The coolant is DexCool (Orange)...but I only have it at 15%, so it's not quite as vibrant as ...

To window...or not to window?
Hi, As I'm nearing the end of this 'project' (yeah right), I have a decision to make on the left side panel. I plan on damping the panels and case with either AcoustiPack or DampTek (leaning towards DampTek because of price). However, many moons ago when I first bought this case (~5 years back), I d...

Heh, thanks for the compliments guys. As far as the car goes, well, you found the info. The pictures in the gallery are from 2003...there have been quite a few changes as I've tweaked it. It had a 360 in it, but the motor spun a few bearings over the summer and we pulled the motor. I'm keeping the h...

Let me know if you have any other questions. Tom Yup, where are the links to the rest of the pictures (maybe in a new thread in the 'off-topic' section) :D On-topic, I'm intrigued to know the diameter & core width of those O-rings so I can try to source some. I also notice from research that frustr...

Thanks! Actually I bought all the hardware except for the O-rings at a local home improvment store (Lowe's). Firetech was on the money with the clamps though, as I have them on my racecar...but I did buy them at Lowe's too. See the aluminum fuel line to the right (along the frame rail): http://www.m...

Suspending the drive helps a lot with motor noise/vibration. Seeks are still there, but for most tasks it's minimal. Update. I reversed the fan to exhaust. The "motherboard" temp is 1C lower, but the NF4 MCP block went up 2C ( 38 ). The fan also struggles at 12v during boot...a lot of restriction there. :) What I need to do is finish off the side panel and the bezel, button it up and then test again. I'm still con...

Hi, Thanks for the comments. Yes, the duct is only held to the fan by the foam. Believe it or not, it's quite a tight fit and seems very stable. Put it this way, it won't fall off. I plan on checking it every few months to make sure the foam doesn't deteriorate. The bottom line is that I wanted it i...

Thanks for all the responses! :P Just kidding!!! Anyway, I finished up the duct this morning. I set it up as an intake to direct air over the "PWM"/Power MOSFETs & MCP heatpipe heatsink. (there's a mouthful) Here are the final results. I'll estimate accuracy at +/- 1C based on holding the ...

Hi, I've recently modded my old Lian Li PC-6000 quite a bit in order to improve cooling capabilities and reduce noise. One of the things I also just did was assemble and install a water cooling system. I'm using an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, which includes ASUS' heatpipe setup for the NF4 MCP. The heatsi...

I figure the 7800's should be good for two years, easy. (Unless there's a mind-blowing game secretly in the works right now). If I had a 6800, I would have stuck with it, but I went from a 6600GT (essentially just a high-clock 8-pipe card) to the 7800GT UT2007 looks like it will be impressive - and ...

I put the VF700 on last night with some AS5 and left the RAMsinks off. It's at 5v, and idles 1C lower than with the stock cooler. I even have it overclocked to 480/1200 in 3D and it still doesn't get much past 65C (using the 'check it quick' method :D ). I'm definitely satisfied - same performance, ...

Thanks for the response Frank! :) The PS is a PC Power and Cooling Silencer 360. It has 1 80mm fan. You are correct on the case fan arrangement. The two front intake fans aren't very useful for a number of reasons. The first of which is that the front bezel is very restrictive. An option could be th...

Hi, I don't post much as I try to learn and figure out things on my own. However, in this situation, I'm in need of some expert advice. :D I'm working with a Wavemaster - I know many of you dislike it - but it's what I chose to use, and I'm gonna stick with it. Besides, it's too pretty not to like (...

That Dynatron heatsink isn't even smaller than the 35x9mm Alpha. The Dynatron is 37x10 - though with a smaller "fin count" it offers less surface area. As far as explaining the method I plan to use - you'd drill and thread the heatsink so that you could use machine screws to run through the bottom o...
