Does the sound spec apply to all WD HDD's....

I have 2x 160GB Samsung HDD's right now that I have soft mounted. They are very quiet; however RAID isn't working out for me and I will be selling them. I reread a lot of SPCR articles and was wondering: The WD5000KS gets incredible marks. Does this apply to the entire range of the WDxxxxKS series o...

Unfortunately i didn't see availability or pricing in the article either. Perhaps SPCR can get a sample of this thing and review it and tell us even more about it (including release date and whatnot):)

**DFI Ultra-D Chipset issues resolved**

Now i wonder how it runs with out that fan that is probably insanely noisy.

Its looking good, but im wondering if it may not fit in the P180 cases with HDD's installed in that bay.

At any rate this looks like it might be the answer to the noisy chipset problems.

Mike,

I thought you mentioned that you would put a review of the Single Platter Seagate 7200.9 HDD up. If you aren't is there anyway you can let me know how it performs in comparison to the Samsung and the older 7200.7's.

Thanks,

I have a 7200.9 160GB in my hands right now. Next on the HDD review list. At idle, all the Seagates are pretty good -- excepting odd tones like the 1.5khz one in our 500GB sample -- but in seek, the absence of AAM is impossible to ignore. float it in suspension, and it gets a whole lot better, of c...

While the Spinpoints are still supposed to be quieter, and the fact that Seagate focused more on performance, the .9’s are supposed to be very quiet anyways. While no new technology was released look at the platter density. The 160gig Seagate has 1 platter with 2 heads. That is bound be at least a l...

I wouldn't recommend Abit. They are having a lot of monetary problems. Additionally, their boards, as a result, have become very poorly made, and unstable.

I would go for the Asus, since you aren't looking to do any extreme OCing.

While it would work it is a rather pointless upgrade. I would do one of the following: 1. Upgrade the entire system (Preferably to A64) 2. OC that system. The 2.4B OC's phenominally. It would be an utter waste of your money to go and simply buy another chip that is barely faster and almost 2 generat...

I noticed in the review Mike said that there wasn't a PCI-E VGA connector. If there is a later model out, does it have one.

In otherwords, are the 430's that are shipping now equipped with a PCI-E connector.

So it looks like i am going to go with the 500 then. The 430 doesn't have any PCI-E connectors.

Im probably better off with the 500Watt anyways.

Do you guys think i will NOTICE a difference after i switch PSU's, in terms of noise.

Thanks,

Ok well then 2 questions: Will both the 430 and the 500 Watt versions reach the ATX power connector on the DFI board in an Antec P180. Is the ATX cord long enough? In the 430's review, it said that it doesn't have any PCI-E VGA connectors. That is something i WILL need. Do the recent versions have t...

I recently got an OCZ Powerstream 520Watt PSU. (God is it a monster). It is really quiet, but, from what i hear, it cant hold a candle to Seasonic. Will the fact that the Seagate drive has only 1 platter help at all.

Additionally, the 7200.9 and the Samsung drive are both spec'd at 2.5 bels idle, and 2.8 seek. If the .9 is so much louder wouldn't that spec be wrong.
