One note, the CPU fan is at 5V. I haven't measured the temp at 12V.

TIM = thermal grease?

Thanks for all the the replies. To answer your questions, the CPU duct is included with the case. (not a bad deal, $35+shipping) Quite a bit of air is getting sucked in here, as a piece of tissue paper (kleenex) will stick to the grill fairly firmly. What's interesting about the CPU temperature to m...

Well I just downloaded HDD Temperature from the web site listed above. I launch the .EXE file, it says "checking hard drives for temperature monitoring support..." and then it just disappears. So I assume this means I have no temperature sensor in my HDD. :?

my first quiet pc

Hi folks, I just got done putting together my first quiet PC and I'm thrilled by the results! :D My old computer was like a noisy server by comparison. Granted, I'm not a sophisticated PC audiophobe yet, but here are my impressions: Case - Evercase GC4292R I really like this case. I don't care about...

Wow! I just built a new PC, picking out components based on SPCR recommendations, and man is it quiet. :D The only component I kept is my old HDD, and even though I set up a StretchMagic suspension it is the loudest thing in the computer!!! I don't know how loud my old computer was, but I'm guessing...

aha

Ahh... well that's wierd, no temp sensor. Thanks for the info!

Why should I dump this HD though? It is about 2 yrs old and has been totally reliable so far. Are new ones much quieter? Faster?

Thanks!

string suspension performance over time

Hey, glad to hear the great reports about hard drive string suspensions. I have one question though. Typically most elastomeric materials (eg rubber bands) stretch out over time. ("creep" is the technical term) This is the only potential downside I can think of for this type of suspension. So my que...

how to get Western Digital HD Temp?

Hi, here is a newbie sort of question for ya. I have a 60 GB WD disk and I can't find a temperature reading for it. It's fairly new so this seems odd. I have SpeedFan which can access the SMART info for the disk, but no temperature values are listed anywhere. Instead I just have "raw read error rate...
