yea my DIY spirit also gets stomped on by my laziness everyday :) regardless of 3 80mm fans or 2 120mm fans bottomline is koolance stuff isn't the best out there meaning compromises have been made and we'll have to pay for it by louder radiator fans. to make a silent water cooling possible, you need...

i used to be a die-hard ibm fan but i stopped endorsing them so much... and even more so after reading this post. i really don't know why i liked ibm so much after getting ball bearing problems and numerous bad sectors and after 4 ibm drives that all went bad. i used to have WD in the 386/486 days, ...

if you have money and not much time, and must have water cooling, that's the way to go.... however, you must realize there are better pumps, way better blocks, better radiator (koolance radiator kit is actually pretty good but there are better ones). oh by the way, that case will be REALLY loud unle...

those water-cooled psu's are custom designs... there has been only one water-cooled psu in production (not in USA), and supposedly it's really expensive (~$200+ euro) and only 300w rated (don't wanna get into 300w rate is just a marketting gimick; it can probably take more or less, etc. etc.)... mov...

simple version of the answer: nexus is better. if you have $30 more extra bucks, buy nexus. some people do like seasonic since you can mod the fan to a quieter one and for other reasons i haven't come across i'm sure. but if you want silence (that's why you're here i'm assuming), get nexus. there's ...

Re: How about external power supplies -- why or why not???
I've been thinking it would be a good idea to put the power supply outside the system. Seems that the benefits would be: - isolation: no vibration from fans to be amplified in case - better cooling: more space in case, better airflow, lower temps - easier to cool, mod: seems that you could do more ...

rusty gave you a pretty good idea. bottomline is (as you already know), something fast (for majority of online community) won't be cheap, something cheap won't be fast and usually not silent. give us your price range. then we should be able to help you lot better. just going by my scale, your best b...
