I hope you're right. I'll look forward to hearing how it goes when you build your system.
Good luck.

Zalman NB47 Mutilation to fit DFI nForce4 MB?
Is there any reasonable way to mutliate the Zalman NB47 chipset cooler (or some other passive solution) to fit DFI's new nForce4 motherboard? A link to the unfortunate chipset arrangement is here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=23067 I'd prefer the DFI board to the o...

What fi you don't have rubber nubs?
Sometimeswarrior:
Do you have a suggestion for one who does not have the rubber nubs you've used? I like your solution for its ease and cheapness but I want to make sure I can secure the fan appropriately before buying the components.
TIA.

A word of caution, these ps may have a problem with a low 3.3 rail. Mine and others show this. No problems oc'ing with mine though. I'm running 2460 MHz What is a handy way to measure the 3.3 V rail with a voltmeter? Measuring the 12 and 5 V rails is easy through a molex connector, but how can I ge...

That's good news about the XP-120. I'll wait until the board is out and hopefully Thermalright checks the compatibility. SLI is a good idea for those who want the fastest possible graphics performance, but in the midrange, a single card can get good enough performance for what I am looking for. By t...

XP-120 - Will it fit on upcoming MSI nforce4 Ultra?
I don't expect a scientific answer without giving measurements, but does anyone have a good feel for whether the XP-120 will fit in the new MSI nforce4 Ultra http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/article.php?id=339 ?

Any advantages of SI-97 or SP-97 versus XP-90 for A64?
Looking through these forums and the articles, it looks like the Thermalright XP-90 is the best bet for those that don't have the space for an XP-120.
However, I see many prople recomending the SI-97 or SP-97 for A64 boards. Are there advantages to either of these two heatsinks over the XP-90?

Should I replace the rear grille on my 4252 with a wire gril
I have a question for those with an Evercase 4252 (or similar). Would I see an improvement in cooling if I trim the rear grille and replace it with a wire grille? I did get an improvement from nibbling the front grille, but that one is more restrictive. The rear grille looks pretty open to me. http:...

I really like my 4252 case. I just replaced my old Enlight a week ago and really notice the difference. It has very good airflow and a quiet design. The black version at Newegg with the USB + Audio connectors is very nice and quite inexpensive. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?descripti...

Thanks everyone for the tips!
Thanks everyone for the tips building my new system. I've only just started my upgrade from an old 1GHz Athlon with an Enlight beige box. A few days ago I received my Evercase 4252, Panaflo 12L 120mm fan, a couple of fanmates and assorted pieces. After moving everything to the new case I was very su...

Best 120x25mm fan avail. at Best Byte(for exchange of fan)
I recently bought an Enermax 120x25mm adjustable fan from Best Byte (among other things), and it isn't quiet even at the lowest adjustment. I'd like to exchange it for another of their 120x25mm fans. Are any of these 120mm fans a good alternative? I will be using a fanmate to drop the voltage as muc...

What is quietest: Non Nidec Samsung or Seagate 7200.7 ?
I'd rather not risk having to RMA the drive if I get a non-Nidec Samsung. If the Samsung has the JVC motor, does it become louder than the Seagate 7200.7? Which drive would people recommend given the current state of Spinpoints (hopefully Seagate will switch motors in the future to something quieter...

Thanks everyone for the tips. That clears things up for me. Breaking down the current requirements for each component is a great help. Suggestion for quiet PS with Athlon 64, Enough +12V ?
I'd like some suggestions regarding the best/quietest power supply that is appropriate for my planned system. Still unsure about whether Samsung or Seagate is quieter.
I am still not sure what the best choice is regarding which SATA drive to order. I'd rather not risk ending up with a JVC motor and having to RMA the drive (if possible).
Assuming the Spinpoint comes with the noisier drive motor, which is quieter, the Seagate 7200.7 or the Samsung?

7000A with 4252?
Thanks for the advice.
I noticed on your sig that you are using the SilentBoost. How is this as a CPU cooler? I was hoping to use the Zalman 7000A heatsink. Do you think it will fit in the 4252 case using an Athlon64 motherboard?

Evercase 4252, 120mm fan in front?
I am about to order an Evercase 4252, and I am wondering what fans I should order with it. Can I fit a 120mm fan in the front? If not, what modding needs to be done to get one to fit? Should I stick with a 120mm in the back and an 80mm fan up front? Also, I am a little confused as to which fan to bu...

Is there a reason people don't recommend the Silverstone SST-TJ04 Gloria? I can see that the grilles are a bit restrictive, but I could nibble them out and replace 'em.

Best quiet, black case with no door
I have been reading the case reviews here and elsewhere and it looks like a case with dual 120mm fans is the best choice for cool and quiet cases. However, it seems almost all of the good cases include a door. For me, doors are inconvenient and often flimsy. The only case I've found that has the opt...
