here's a link off toms for the 3112 chipset: http://www.tomshardware.com/storage/20030307/index.html The card I have looks like that so if your store has an image reference, that might help. Of course, you could always just call them and ask about the chipset. Sorry to hear about your problems rupra...

Don't know if it has the hardware monitoring you're referring to, but speedfan reports two temps for my card. Currently, w/ case temps of 34C, it idles at 72C. The card hits 80C on load (HL2, 3dmark). You can click my sig for the specific setup which has 2x 120mm, although it really is only one fan ...

which two port card? the silicon image 3112? AFAIK, that is the cheapest SATA controller card available. If so, I can attest to its reliability; quite good for Win XP. Can't say I've tried in a linux environment though, but i hear the support is quite good (gotta love that cheap hardware has the bes...

Overall, its a good PSU though. Get it if you have the means to.

Oh yeah, they got new software too. Its beta so YMMV. I'm using it now, and while the new features are really cool (PWM frequency management!), it might be a bit overwhelming for new users.

LOL, not trying to make anyone feel bad.

Just be happy when you remember you didn't have to spend almost $300 to get it. I had to save up a LONG time to be able to afford it.

have you tried defragging after installing HL2? It helps quite a bit... did for me at least.

You can get some optimizations to improve your performance here: http://tweakguides.com/. I haven't tried them myself though, so I don't know if they work well.

Samba all the way. You can get samba to run as your PDC w/ roaming profiles and everything.

That way, you've got just about all the features of NT4, but on an OS thats likely to run more stable (personally, i feel NT4 is nowhere near as stable as Win2k).

I've got the passive gigabyte. Here's what I've managed to achieve thus far: I currently run HL2 @ 1280x1024 w/ max settings and 4x AA/16x AF. I would estimate that my average framerate is 65fps. What slows me down though, is my HD which, according to what I've heard, needs to be defragged after the...

Just saw new store from mcubed; new sensors for tbalancer

So it seems mcubed put up a new OScommerce frontend for their store to showcase their new products. Some interesting items to consider: - New thermal sensor hub which now includes foil sensors (sounds promising for more accurate temp measurement). - Various thermal adhesives. Oh yeah, here's the lin...

I think one problem holding them back is the fact that they'd be liable for not providing some sort of grounding for the HDD. Effectively, they'd have to decouple the disks AND be able to ground it (maybe we/ a separate wire or something).

Agreed, probably not gonna happen soon :o
