Oh, Ralf...
In those pictures, I noticed you mounted the drive backwards on the rail. Did you do that just for prettier cable management (and maybe airflow) or did it make a difference in the sound too?
Just curious...

I used one of these Vantec Dampening kits and cut up the fan mount into little squares. I applied them just like in your picture by Super Gluing them to the case. Ahh, good idea. I used a piece from one of those between my video card (Gigabyte 6800 with its massive heatsink) and DIMM. The heatsink ...

Hi Ralf, First of all, I'd like to thank you for documenting your efforts so thoroughly here. I recently bought a BQE with three SP1614C's, and the vibration is driving me absolutely nuts. It's this low-pitched *oscillating* hum that fades in and out every couple seconds, ugh! I'm definitely orderin...

Seasonic Super Silencer 400W (Rev.A3) Fan Swap
I recently bought the Seasonic Super Silencer 400W (Rev.A3) based on the glowing recommendation in the "recommended" section, and I'm not especially satisfied with it. It's definitely fairly quiet from a technical point of view (db), but the stock Superred fan sounds "rough" to me. Unlike the smooth...

Wow. That Gigabyte 6800 looks impressive. It's priced roughly the same as a 9800 XT /w the Zalman heatsink except it performs a bit better in most benchmarks. If it produces less heat, that looks like a better choice than the 9800 Pro/XT. Is the NV Silencer 5 for the 6800 as quiet as the VGA Silence...

Need quiet video card advice
Hi All, Are there any cards with somewhat comparable performance to the 9800 Pro 128 MB that could be quieter (IE- produce less heat)? If not, what's the current quietest (and effective) cooling solution for the 9800 Pro? The Arctic Cooling cards are looking the best to me simply because they exhaus...

Hmm. I don't see any "fan silencers" at Silicon Acoustics? The only place I've seen them is directron.com (http://www.directron.com/fanacc.html). Are those "UV Casearts" ones just as good?acaurora wrote:He's right. I got mine from SiliconAcoustics.

acaurora: Ahh. You're right about the air filter. If you lift the tab hard enough, it comes out rather easily. I guess I was just afraid I'd break it. The fan silencer + Nexus fan sounds like a great plan. Where'd you buy your fan silencer and Nexus fan btw? Thanks for the *very* informative post. =)

SLK3700-BQE Front Fan Mount?
I just picked up an SLK3700-BQE and am dismayed to see that the front fan mount uses smaller, threaded holes instead of the bigger, unthreaded holes with the rubber mounts used for the rear fan. I wonder why the heck Antec did that? Anyway, how are you guys mounting the front fan? Specifically perha...

Critique my planned setup
Hi Everyone! First of all, I'd like to thank the makers of this website for all the wonderful information. I found the recommendation articles extremely helpful. Anyway, I'm planning to buy the following parts to quiet down my system. Does this sound like a good setup? Is there anything else I shoul...
