Intriguing. A two fan psu that runs quiet. Well, I've never. I thought the second fan was redundant, just pushing air around, not helping the total airflow. Hum. I'll go look at that article now. I'm in the situation that I want to give my older brother a quiet psu for Christmas, but Seasonic has a ...

Ok, here is my report: Thumbs down. It has a smooth lowfrequency hum, but it's too loud as it is. It's quiet, but far from 'virtually silent'. It's definitely not SPCR quiet...the voltage lines weren't terribly precise either, and that's for a low drain system (factory passive 5200, 1 HD, 1700+ cpu)...

Chill Innovation psu, any experiences?
http://www.chill-innovation.com/chill-innovation.asp anyone tried this? I live in Scandinavia, where Super Tornados will only become available after CeBit...(yes, I asked :? ) this thing claims 17-19 dbA noise levels. I think I'll try it out, here in Denmark I can always return it within 14 days of ...

9600 pro vs 9800 non pro heat output
Does anyone have any idea what the watt output under idle and load for these two cards are? I have a cunning plan that would involve not using the onboard fan at all, but am not sure my solution would be quiet enough to cool a 9800 (non pro, mind you).
thanks in advance...

Actually, I've been wanting to post about that Codegen PSU too for a while. It's really really quiet when the machine is idling. Seems I'm not barmy after all thinking it quiet. Joy. :D Right now my IV Barracuda makes the most noise. When the fan spins up on the PSU under load, however, it does make...

The click is also something not showing up on either dBa measurements or spectrum analysises. I have a Global Win cooler, CBK-II58, slightly undervolted, which is measured at 25 dB, on my 1700+. I also use the 12 db rated Papst 80mm fan on my other machine, a k6-2 500. And I find the Papst tic-tic-t...

hum. I'm using Steinberg's Halion softsampler in Cubase on my 1700+, works great, apparently no great load on my CPU. Can't get it to work on my k6-2 500 at all, just not enough juice. I'm also very happy I can run VST plugins, big ones too (like those Renaissance ones from Waves), without slowing m...

CpuIdle instability?
Hi, I've been using CpuIdle until recently, under normal use it drops the temperature on my 1700+ by 19 degrees Celsius. But then I started experiencing spontaneous reboots under very certain conditions, only when running eMule and playing mp3s at the same time. I've stopped using CpuIdle now, and t...

A serious reply! People usually just make jokes about Cage. I kind of wish he hadn't wrote that 4.33 piece, since it seems to be the only piece people know... I think Cage was right when he said something like that 'silence is a turning (of the mind)'. There are few sounds I enjoy more than ...

Nope, it was crackling, so I tried three different spots, only one of which was below the VGA card. No differences in temperature. I'm willing to bet this one was a bit defective. Maybe it *was* pouring out heat, or maybe it was interfering with my mainboard in some devious electronic way? Maybe it ...

Sound card heat emission?
I have had problems with my Soundblaster Live sound card for a long time.
I finally decided to remove it, and, lo, my temperatures dropped by ten degrees.
Queer, ain't it? Does anyone have similar experiences?

K6-2 500 Mhz, 80 mm fan on adapter?
I'm considering using an 80 mm fan with an airflow of 19 cfm on a 60 to 80 mm fan adapter to cool my K6-2 500 Mhz CPU.
Will this work?
It's a Swiftkill adapter, by Innovatek. Stupid name, but there you go.
thanks in advance

...that's a bit absolutist. Nazi Germany had laws that sent Jews, gays, communists, etc., to their deaths. Just because a state sanctions a law doesn't mean it's right. People have to work out for themselves what is right and what is not. I believe that most people, however, do see society as an ins...

Noisy AT PSU
...what to do? Hi! New here. Just got a GlobalWin CBK58-II for my main rig instead of a Tt Volcano 6Cu, and am overwhelmed by the difference. Now then, I have an old computer I use for making music, with a noisy AT power supply. And I wonder...is it possible to replace it? I'm not into soldering. I ...
