Re: Rosewill Capstone 450 vs Seasonic S12II-430

Newegg offers the SeaSonic S12II 430B 430W for about $60. I don't care at all about Haswell compliance or the difference between Bronze and Gold or whether or not cables are modular.

I might end up going with Seasonic but the Newegg customer reviews for the Rosewill are extremely high.

Rosewill Capstone 450 vs Seasonic S12II-430

I am down to deciding between these two units. All I care about is the noise level at power output levels less than 170 watts. Which unit would produce the less noise?

Re: Antec Solo....BROKEN POWER and RESET BUTTONS!!

After many years of using my Antec Solo the power button broke. I'm sure that if I spent a bit of effort I could rig a repair. Why bother? I just removed the button and power on the PC by sticking a finger through the button hole to the switch.

Re: Backblaze HD reliability survey vs Newegg customer revie

FYI, in November 2013 Newegg posted a youtube video touting their new shock-proof HD packaging so there may be fewer failures now.

I guess I'll take a chance on a 2TB WD.

Backblaze HD reliability survey vs Newegg customer reviews

I am in need of a new 2TB HD and my primary concern is reliability. For many years the only drives I bought were the good old reliable and quiet Samsungs. As most of you know, Backblaze released a HD reliability report based on their experience with thousands of Hitachi, Seagate and WD drives. In ge...

Re: Fan controller vs MB fan control

The guy I'm building for likes to install every MB application but I just finished the HW build with case fans connected to the case fan controller so we'll try that first. After I do the software build we can switch to MB control.

Re: Fan controller vs MB fan control

The case fans are all three pin which I think doesn't provide optimal control with fan Asus xpert+.

I think Ill just experiment with both. I'm building the computer for a friend who is a gamer and he'll accept a bit of noise. I prefer inexpensive and silent builds.

Fan controller vs MB fan control

Please help me make a fan control decision with the NZXT Phantom 820. I'm running only four fans, the included front, top, rear and side. The MB is an Asus P9X79 WS which seems to have very good fan control. Would it be best to let the MB control fans or should I use the Phantom's digital fan contro...

Re: Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1

Touchscreens are very much in vogue but they shouldn't be employed everywhere. For desktop computer users control via a touchscreen requires much more movement than control by mouse and keyboard. I've installed Windows 8 on a test drive but I don't like it. The OS just seems awkward and ugly. A bit ...

Re: alternatives, comments Samsung 840, WD Green 2TB, LG Blu

You really don't need hardware to mount your SSD. I bought a Samsung 830 which lacked optional hardware and simply used a couple of very small pieces of Scotch double-sided tape. Double-sided tape is better because it gives you more options about installation location.

I would probably use either double sided tape or stick-on velcro. Hardware is not required.

Because he said, "When I unplug the power from the GPU and turn on the computer, on screen it says that the power isn't connected to the GPU." apparently the computer will post. Still I would swap out video cards or try integrated video if possible.

I would go with a 23 inch monitor with 1680X1050 resolution. A 16/10 aspect ratio works much better as a computer monitor than the shorter 19/9 ratio that is pushed out to the great unwashed.

No one seems to be able to stop the spill. Gulf coast people need something to feel good about. Well, BP has given us tons of tar and we can use feathers from all the dead pelicans. I suggest we tar and feather CEO Tony Hayward and send him to South Africa as the "Giant Pelican" USA World Cup mascot!

Recent polls have shown that Americans despise a US firm, Goldman Sachs much more than they do BP. BP is not being trashed because it's British--It's being trashed because its management has no empathy for Gulf residents or Gulf wildlife.
