Hmm... It seems that we have gone down to 48000ppd, couple of weeks ago it was 56000. Actually, I was thinking the team was doing well, because for the last couple of weeks, so many people have blown past me (269-270th place) that I could hardly move up despite getting ~40 PPD. My PPD has not change...

Looking good, I hope you can build it without too much hassle. (Eagerly awaiting the finished pics.) Why don't you try the power supply at the bottom back part of the case? The fan facing downward (to outside air) and the exhaust facing the back. In terms of heat, it could be almost like having the ...

Just some ideas not based on any specific heatsink... Advantages of tower designs: * Cleaner airflow pattern - just flows straight, no turns and bends; airflow is only disrupted by the fins * Airflow pattern also better for the case airflow * Better compatability with motherboards * More space for f...

In this age of heatpipe equipped heatsinks, copper and aluminum don't make much difference. IF I'm not mistaken, the thermal conductivity of a heatpipe is at least an order of magnidtude better than copper. In the XP-90 design, the role of aluminum or copper is only to transfer the heat to the middl...

I've never seen one, but looking at the review images, it looks doable. Since the bottom has a seperate copper part, that makes it easier. Just a thought, does your mobo have 4 holes around the socket? If so and if the footprint of the copper bottom piece of the ncu2000 is big enough, maybe align th...

The tests were run with a 6800GT graphics card, which will pull a lot of power itself, therefore its easy to see >100W power for the systems. First of all, Tomshardware's number of 32W for the 3500+ is very obviously wrong, I think it is best to disregard that number entirely. The difference between...

I think it has to do with the optimizations. I have (don't laugh!) 512MB PC133 SDR. Usually free mem is around 200, right now its 180. So I wouldn't think it to be a memory problem. It would definitely be loud, but whats more worrying is that microscopic little fans don't do well over time. I have seen lots of little fans that deteriorate over time. There is the Seasonic Super Silencer 460W. I don't know how quiet that particular model is, but the other (lower power) models are praised around here, particularly for their high efficiency. Because it is cheap and simple. Note that more important than messing up the case airflow, in a conventional heatsink, the hottest part has NO airflow.
