Re: Phanteks wont go lower than 900rpm..
Thank you for the tips! I prefer to do a manual speed setting instead of silent mode.. I can dial it in exactly how I want that way. I will play around wtih the fan stop option but my system is overclocked so more than likely Ill keep the fans going all the time but just at a low rpm when the system...

Re: Phanteks wont go lower than 900rpm..
Some questions, 1) Are you using ASUS AI Suite III / FanXpert2? 2) Have you ran the tuning in FanXpert2? its a test where the software establishes the min/max rpms/voltages of the fans 3) What model is your Phantek fan? 4) On what motherboard fan header are you running the Phantek fan? CPU_FAN, CHA...

Phanteks wont go lower than 900rpm..
I have a pair of Phantek 140mm fans on a phantek cooler. The Asus software will not take the fan's below 900 rpm. I know at one time I had them much lower than that but for some reason I can't get them lower. These fans use a weird PWM adapter also. I am changing cases and was told my mobo doesn't h...

Re: New case.. time for new 140mm fans..
All fan headers on my motherboard are PWM. I have dual PWM on my CPU fan header already for the heatsink fans. Nope, you might think they are because of the 4pin layout, but they are not, i own an Asus Maximus VI Gene, which is a Z87 based, the only real pwm fan is the CPU_FAN header (and the CPU_O...

Re: New case.. time for new 140mm fans..
Thanks! I guess I did good! I got the 1500rpm PWM redux 140mm fans. Two for up front and one for out back. I plan to cut away the rear grill as I have only found those to create noise. I am hoping It will run cool enough with this setup if not I may go back to stock CPU clock as I want to go as sile...

New case.. time for new 140mm fans..
Just picked up a Fractal Designs R5 and I wanted to put some high quality fans up front. I prefer Noctua but I am open to others unless the fans that come with the R5 are just as good? I was looking at the Noctua but there are so many models of 140mm I have no idea which one makes the best case fan....

Yeah, I think partly I am just looking for the next little project.. just something to mess with. It gets pretty hot to the touch yet the motherboard says its only like 38C which I find hard to believe because I can't keep my finger on it for long. Guess I will leave it be! Thx!

H77 Chipset cooler.. Advise please!
Just finished up my HTPC and everything seems great but the heatsink for the chipset on the motherboard is very hot to the touch. I think it could benefit from something aftermarket but not sure what would fit. The typical northbridge coolers look almost to large to fit. The board I am using is the ...

Orderd the thin 92mm Noctua for my heatsink and the PWM fan that is made for heatsinks to blow on my video card. Going to run the stock Silverstone front fan for now.

Re: 120mm PWM case fan for HTPC.. help please!
Well it looks like the Corsair fans didn't fair all that well. The Noise Blocker is an optoin for sure but I would need a higher RPM version to make sure the video card stays cool. Under Load I don't know if 850 rpm will cover it. I imagine I can just throttle down the faster version with the Asus F...

Re: 120mm PWM case fan for HTPC.. help please!
Just remembered the fan doesnt need to be pwm afterall.. I was thinking of doing an AF120 quiet on the front and an SP120 quiet on the video card heatsink. The price is good on these fans and they seem to get good reviews.

Just a heads up I will say these fans are pure garbage with the noise they make. I found if you apply a little pressure to the backside center of the fan the noise is gone. Really hate these fans.

120mm PWM case fan for HTPC.. help please!
I was going to go with the new Noctua 120mm fan but honestly the color is going to be right in my face where the PC is. I had thought about Noise Blocker but I see mixed reviews. I can get the Corsair PWM SP120 locally. One fan will be blowing air in.. and one fan will be blowing on the video cards ...

Well just a heads up im going back with another Coolermaster megaflow... my buddy has one in his PC and its really quiet.. I think mine has just lived a little to long. Bitfenix really has some work to do as I am seeing a lot of bad reviews on their fans but the coolermaster seems to keep getting go...

Best 200mm?
Been using a coolermaster 200mm which has been great for about a year but now it has bearing noise. I pickedup a bitfenix Pro that looks awesome but had a ticking noise so I got rid of it. I have heard they don't like fan controllers but I tried mine at 12V and 7V adn it still hadn noise. Has anyone...

Noise Blocker Eloop resonance...
I picked up a few Eloops to play with.. they are the 400-1500rpm PWM version. I have to say they have some pretty bad noise at 1000 rpm in my case.. I run them around 600 normally and they are very very quiet but during games they ramp up a bit and at 1000rpm there is a pulsing resonating noise. I f...

How low can the 6970 underclock with dual monitors?
I know that ATI does not clock their cards low when dual monitors are hooked up. My current 6970 runs at 500/1375 stock idle with dual monitors at 1V. Any tried pushing these low with dual monitors?

What driver version are you running? The drivers I think after 10.4 clock the 2d up higher for dual monitor issues they are trying to resolve. This creates more idle heat. You can try an older driver version or find a way to push your 2d clocks down. I use a custum fan profile that ramps it up when ...

The arctic cooling fans are amazing. Right now they run at 700 rpm when the machine is at idle or light load and throttle up only as needed. I put them through a stress test and in the end I have less noise and a 4C drop in my peak core temps. Just amazing to me. So much better then the 800RPM Slips...

120mm fan in 3 x 5.25 bay mounting.
So I have a Lian Li case with vented 5/25" slot covers and dual fans behind 6 of them. I used the method of zip ties to suspend the fans behind the slot covers. Now I am looking for a better mounting method. Best way I can describe what I am looking for is a Kama Bay but without the mesh front. I ne...
