I think most of this arguement is worthless... theres a entire range of what is possible. Yes an indidual disk might fail and raid1/5 is can protect against this. However raid1/5 doesn't make your data truely secure. Yes 1000 things can happen where your array is destoryed, act of god or act of user...

Why not one 74GB raptor and one 250GB samsung? Pretty darn fast boot drive yet still twice as much space total as the 150GB raptor. Guess it depends on space needs, if 150GB is enough I'd get the raptor, if I needed more I'd get the slower raptor and additional storage drives.. and if I needed even ...

I had 7 or 8 sata drives and a dual core opteron on a 300w seasonic... no problems, was even a 20pin powersupply and the mobo was 24pin, no converted used. I've since upgraded to a 500watt seasonoic because I needed to buy a powersupply for another computer and I believe in trickle down computing.. ...

(I redid this post) Actually I watching the senor's readings on my a8nslipremium and they make no sense, well at least the 'motherboard' reading does not. Full load I've seen it up to 60C however I just noticed that going from idle->fullload or other way around the mobo temp changes instantly. In on...

Everyone recommends the ninja, and its great, I have one and couldn't be happier. However the SI120 is very close in performance, but also has the advantage of getting airflow over the heatsink part of the NB cooler. Theres that nice heatpipe cooler on the mobo that just brings up the heat near the ...

I'm using a 300watt tornado hooked up to a a8n-sli preminum without the 20->24pin converter. It works fine. Runs like a champ, no problems. opty170 oced from 2.0ghz to 2.1ghz. Also have 7 samsung harddrives on the ps and a lowend nvidia gfx card. I actually have the converter, took it from work, but...

Well I just finsihed setting up my new computer. All done with Linux software-raid. I actually used EVMS to build and manage everything and it was all pretty easy to do. root and boot partitions are raid1 and then I have a 4 drive raid5 array for storage. I actually built it as a 3 drive array and u...

PSU draw at startup (many hds)
Well I'm buliding a new computer... and really would like to get a 380watt S12. According to PSU calculators I COULD draw more than 380watts.... I'll have 6 harddrives at the start but might eventaully expand to 8-10 drives total. How strict is that 380watt max? What happens if you try to draw a lit...

Heres the 2 areas where I need help. Right now I have a 400w Antec PP412X powering my computer. I modded it a little open up the vents, and put a 7V Panaflo l1a inside it. Its still the loudest thing in my computer. My computer is sorta power hungry, 2.4B p4 @ 2.88ghz 1.65v a 4600 oced alot blah bla...
