I'm honestly quite surprised by the responses that people are posting. It is not ok to connect to someone's private wireless network without their permission: legally or morally. It does not matter if you are only quickly checking your email or looking up directions (thats like saying, its fine if i...

I think the confusion with the innovatek calculator arises from the fact that it is not a PSU calculator but rather a calculator for determining the amount of cooling that your water cooling system needs to be able to provide. This is also why there are options for northbridge/northbridge and mosfet...

Re: Software RAID vs. Hardware RAID and OS Choice
Ok. As I have never previously used RAID I am really unsure wether to use software or hardware RAID? Everyone seems to be a little bit divided on this matter. Is there a big difference. Which is riskier for data loss? Any other issues I need to consider when deciding on RAID? If you can afford it g...

honestly your best bet is an add on sound card. Onboard sound is pretty deficient on most motherboards except for some of the new intel based boards which have Hi-Def audio built in. for 30 bucks or so you can get a fairly good midrange sound card that will be perfectly good for running your speaker...

I can attest that the SPII-500 is a great fit in the P180 and would HIGHLY recommend it. The cables are NOT to short, they fit fine. Also, with the lower chamber the fan barely ever ramps up even with my system folding both cores 24/7 and the Raptor and 320JD in the bottom chamber. PM me if you have...

Better than wireless might be using Cat5 cable for several reasons: 1)the devices to allow you to extend VGA, Audio, USB, DVI, FW, etc are already available 2)using CAT5 is cheaper than using wireless 3)wired signals are faster (meaning you can use higher resolutions) and more reliable than wireless...

Although you only need 300w of power, DFI Requires that you use at least a 480w power supply, otherwise they are not at fault for anything that happens to the board. Fortunately they have now way of knowing what power supply you are using. They only say that so that someone doesnt use a 200W power ...

First, i would recommend changing the CPU cooler. A better cooler (the Scythe Ninja if it will fit or the XP-120 if the case is not tall enough). Equip either one with a Nexus 120mm fan for a great CPU cooling setup. Second: 80mm Nexus's in all of the case fan mount points should provide more than a...

Well before most people here can really help you, we need to know the components that will be going into this system. It is definately possible to ballpark (and even almost pinpoint) the airflow you'll need for your system (especially if you are using compenets that other peopl here are using). So a...

just stay away from antec in general, their latest psu's haven't exactly gotten good reviews... What are you talking about??? Aside from some compatibility problems with the NeoHE Antec's PSU's are some of the best on the market and have been getting very good reviews. I'd also say get a SmartPower...

I'd avoid a chipset block and use a heatpipe based cooler instead. chipset water blocks tend to be more restrictive in the loop in low flow systems (which yours will likely be if you undervolt your pump to keep it quiet). Also, try to avoid using 90 degree elbows. They too restrict the flow and redu...

a few tips: cpu: spend the extra 20 bucks and get the dual core 3800+, the performance difference is wonderful (you'll really notice it even with small things like playing music while surfing the net). While the single core one is faster in sheer benchmarks and games, you'll notice the dual core's b...

you absolutely need a fan blowing in over a raptor in an enclosure (personally i would never dream of doing that, it seems to me to be asking for trouble putting a 10K RPM drive in an enclosure). As far as the fans go, you dont need the front ones, but if you are sticking with the zalman cooler i'd ...

I'd be doubtful of those statistics. Take the safe route: Nexus (120mm) fans are known to be great, they are the reference fan that all fans are compared against here at SPCR. You will not be displeased with them, but with any other fan you are taking a risk. If you feel like you need higher airflow...

Without a doubt i'd say ditch the watercooling system and stick with air. I was stuck making this exact same decision with my build a month ago trying to balance the pros and cons (granted using selected parts in the wc loop, not a kit). To me it ended up make no sense to go with watercooling for 3 ...

if you really wont go with a ninja i'd go for an xp-120 with a nexus fan. You might have to order it elsewhere, but its really worth it. My xp-120 keeps my x2 4200+ running at 38 degrees under full load (2 instances of folding at home). if newegg doesnt carry it you can always use jab-tech.com. if y...

both my raptor and my 3200jd are in the lower chamber they both run at about 35 degrees most of the time with no fan in the lower chamber. and yah cable management can be kind of a pain, but its definatly doable. there are a number of crevices you can use to hid cables in. as far as front door issue...

i've found newegg reviews to be very questionable. Those comments are likely from people using software (like mbm5) which is notoriously inaccurate at measuring voltage. I have not had a single issue with my system and it has been running stable (running 2 instances of Folding at Home 24/7, recordin...

i would recommend going with the smartpower II 500W. I have no problem reaching the connectors on by a8n-sli premium (and i am using one of the pci slots. With the bottom chamber setup it also stays really quiet in my p180 (even at full load with an x2 4200+ and a 6600gt). The outer fan has yet to t...
