Re: The Top SPCR Quiet 120mm Axial Fans Compared + 120mmAC Fans.

The best 120mm fan that I know of is the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM. It has incredible balance, very tight clearance at the blade tips, great geometry, smooth and robust bearings - much better than anything we have had up until now.

Folding@Home Is Now Doing COVID-19

Hi Folks, Stanford's Folding@Home distributed computing project has been going for almost 20 years (it began October 1, 2000), and SPCR formed a team around 2004, I believe. We are #94 in the world, at the moment. They have now added COVID-19 to the project, and there has been a large influx of new ...

I think the Fractal Design fans are decent. Occasionally, you get a bum one. Have you slowed them down?

Seems about right - the front intakes can be run pretty slowly, or even be off at times.

Another recommendation for Fractal Design - build quality is the best, and excellent designs, too.

Re: CHERRY STREAM

I was looking at about 4 different units. It was a bit confusing as to what was what. All of them seemed to have keys in nonstandard locations. I want a very durable keyboard, and I would like to find a quieter one. I have a Logitech G810 at the moment; which quiet for a mechanical unit. It is weari...

Re: CHERRY STREAM

Is this the Cherry Stream 3?

This keyboard has a strange layout for a couple of keys, around the return key. I like the larger return key, but the /? key is on the top row, and there is other very strange swaps.

Re: Quiet down Ryzen 5 3600 in FD R5

question: would it be OK if I move the exhaust fan to the front, as it's less audible there? The R5 has room for 2 intakes. Would it be much harder without an exhaust fan to push the heat out of the case? Instead of doing a push/pull. Heat rises, so working with this is usually better. And also wor...

Interesting - is the performance somewhere between a 1080 and a 1080ti? The power consumption seems to be about like a 1080ti, or so.

OC3D TV Gigabyte Aorus X570 Xtreme Preview It certainly looks impressive in a lot of aspects, more so the passive chipset, but what baffle me is the microphone, and according to the preview, you can setup the fan profiles according to the noise, maybe its a gimmick but certainly got my attention. Re: Looking for a quiet PC case to silence hard drive noise

That's a lot of hard drives! What is the total capacity, and could you also get it quieter, by using fewer, larger capacity drives?

Has the temperatures of the system / drives changed, since your mods?

Re: Need a compact case, restricted depth

I agree - the layout of the FT-05 is the best I know of. It is as close to perfect thermally / air flow; especially for video card(s). The power supply location needs some work, and the location of 3.5" hard drives, as others have said. Cable management is basically nonexistent. A lack that almost e...

I am behind on what the hierarchy of current video cards are. I thought the 1660 Ti is the current gen minus t...

Re: High Pressure 80mm fans

Welcome to SPCR,

What NAS do you have? Can you modify the case to ease air flow, and reduce the static pressure issue? Sucking air is actually an efficient thing to do, and it doesn't require a straight path.

Re: Riotoro Morpheus GPX-100

I am not sure how that case would work for a passive case - the small holes will let a little air flow, but without fans, it will be minimal. They put filters on the bottom opening - but dust will get in where ever air gets in.

Re: One or Two front intake fans?

My thought is that greater air flow out of the case will be better at minimizing hot areas, including around the video card. Positive pressure = slower air flow, and is much more likely to have stagnant pockets of air.
