As long as you have decent airflow, you really shouldn't need a fan on your northbridge. Just make sure there is some air moving around it, perhaps from the cpu cooler or whatever, and monitor the temps the first time you try it. Also might help to use thermal compound rather than those heatpads.

Dunno if this will fit your bill, but I was thinking about buying this one for a while - Evercase matx. Fits matx boards, full power supplies, and has front and back 120mm mounting points.

A cheap Kingwin might have promise

This case is only 65 bucks or so, has a steel chassis, and a front that isn't too gaudy - has sort of an Art Deco feel. The case comes in two colors, black and silver. The silver case has the option of having a window on the side, while the black one apparently only comes with a window (from newegg ...

Super haxed Aerocool fan!

Make your computer into a silent jetplane! Who wants to be silly and waste 15 bucks? It looks cool, but being a poor college student, I can't indulge in such luxuries.

thanks for the reply. i suppose it couldn't hurt to apply more paste. i would think that CPUs would require more paste than a GPU, but apparently i might be wrong. *there were no artifacts before the fan swap *the temps i reported were at idle - at load it is 57C *i haven't overclocked the card *i'm...

ok, either i'm doing something wrong, or my computer is just acting up really badly. i installed a vf-700cu on my 6800gt, and according to nvidia's temperature readings, i'm still around 55 degrees C. according to speefan, however, i'm somewhere around 40 to 44 degrees C. what other temperatures are...

a stretch - possibily the 92 mm nexus.

here's a longshot. looked at the edging/pressing for the 92mm nexus, and this foxconn , and they look the same. I'm probably wrong, but hey, at 1.50 a pop, it can't hurt to try. i can't try it because i only have 80s, but someone else want to give it a shot? remember - don't be a pompous forum elite...

Well my reasoning was that when I had emailed them, they said this: "Hi smoothness - we are most likely sold out with no plans to re-stock at this point." Now does that mean that they won't sell them anymore, or will they just "drop-ship" them from their distributor when they get the orders? I'm int...

It's mostly marketing, but some people with an eye for the avant-garde, the fashionable, or whatever reasoning they might have will always pay more for something that they believe looks better, regardless of whether or not the function of the case is ...

i dunno about the 80mm - someone said they tried the yate loons from another site, and they turned out to be subpar. once we find out whether or not they're good on the turnaround, i'll probably try for some of the 80mm and the 120mm. i've got a coolermaster praetorian with 4 80mm i'm gonna try to s...

i suggest buying the orange 120mm yate loons. we know that they actually work when coming from isellsurplus and geeks.com, so it'd be good if we know that their supply is the same. i'd suggest buying a lot of 10, in order to see what the difference between each fan is - not to mention the fact that ...

my suggestion is to shop around newegg, or any other big stores with a good selection of cases, and just look for beige boxes - they're usually smaller than the "appealing" cases, but you'll have a hard time finding one that has 120 mounts and is small.
