Re: Electronic Noise and Tinnitus

First off, I completely believe Richard's symptoms. I for one get a splitting headache when in the presence of noise at certain high frequencies, including ones I can't consciously hear or otherwise detect; I only figured this out when the people behind me in an electronics lab in school were fiddli...

tay: Thank you for being polite... searching more than cursorily on these forums probably would have been a good idea.

I'm going to have to try out a few of the ideas around here... I'll post what works for me later, since I figure one more opinion can't hurt!

Suspending a hard drive - how to tie the knot?

Hey everyone, I took much advice from these forums and SPCR in general in building my newest computer - and I'm thrilled. My specs are below, and I hope in general they pass muster. The one component in which I let my desire for speed get past my ideal of a quiet computer a bit is the 74GB Western D...

Out of control multitasking, though... things can get hairy. I've actually seen my memory usage climb past 3GB - between the apparent memory leaks in Azureus and FireFox, and some inconsistency on Windows' part in handling it all, especially if you decide to activate the NoPagingExecutive registry e...

Thanks everyone... It's indeed a Venice-core A64. FanMates are a potential upgrade - however, I'm going to college August 23rd, and this will be my primary computer. And, naturally, I don't know whether my room will have AC yet. The other side of things is that my roommate will likely have an indepe...

New System - Well, what do you think?

Hey everyone - I've lurked here much more than I've posted. Anyway, I've studied the advice a bit, mixed it with pricing and availability information, and put together a system... I'm interested to hear some reactions, if you're willing to give them. Note that I already have the parts - but I wouldn...

Just curious... everyone seems to be suggesting swapping the fans for Panaflos, and other known quiet fans. What about a simpler swap: the PSU fans for the cheap retail Arctic-Cooling fans, possibly plugging them into a Zalman Fanmate? Would this be at all feasible? I'm not exactly sure how these fa...
