zalman 7000 airflow direction

can anyone tell me which direction the airflow goes with the zalman 7000? is it downward (towards the cpu), or upward (away from the cpu)?
thanks!

using artic silver to unlock athlon?

i'd like to unlock my athlon xp 1700+ chip. i have some artic silver thermal paste. has anyone ever tried using it as the conductive agent to bridge the connections? (i'm trying to do it on the cheap, so any recommendations are welcomed)

while i expect you will have some great circulation through your case, my initial impression is that it would not be enough on its own, at least at a heavy load. i'm basing this impression on another similar setup someone had that was working pretty well in the 1Ghz range (not sure if Intel or AMD)....

i've found that most of the big computer sellers (Gateway, Dell, etc) offer fairly quiet keyboards.

removing rubber protective layer on Seagate 'cuda

i don't particularly pay much attention to hard drives, but my new barracuda has a rubber protective layer around the sides and bottom. has anyone tried removing this? did it help cut down the heat? any noticeable increase in volume of the drive?

i've used something like these on machine that has two intakes in the front...seems to work pretty well. i like the pantyhose idea though! :)
