I tried Centrino Hardware Control, and it doesn't allow me to control the fan on my X20. Fortunately the fan is very unobtrusive in the silent mode already. I haven't tried the newer beta version of this program (now called Notebook Hardware Control).

Yup, editing the profile kills the liquid ninja sig , since the forum software upgrade in December 2004. Seems like the network is saturated somewhere between them and me. I was now able to see the first line of the server stats page before the connection timed out...
