Nice system. Haha a geode: maybe SOMETHING the silentboost is good for, without the useless fan of course. Nice. 8) Maybe the load temp can be reduced by removing the aluminium fan shroud on the HS,then bend the copper so it result something flowery like old Zalman flowers(2000,3000,etc). It suppose...

I wonder if it would benefit from putting another fan on the other side, so that the fans are in a push-pull configuration. Adding a second fan should greatly increase the air pressure though the heatsink, right? Perhaps by doing this it could be quieted without loosing so much performance. my thin...

when i tried something similar, when i turned the CPU fan off it seemed fine and the temp stayed below 55 degrees, but then the computer just restarted before a half hour

but if it worked for you, congrats

nice mod but what is the purpose of the grill? it's not blocking any dust.. just air. and i personally don't like the look of it.

did your temps improve?

No one has yet mentioned anything about the unusual shape of the blades, besides that it's supposed to look like a turbine. I don't remember any other fans with fins that aren't curved and angled inwards. I'm under the impression that this will make it blow more centrifugally, which would handicap ...

as already mentioned, you will probably want an aftermarket cooler for that video card

also, un-quiet related, you want a 128MB, 256-bit card, not the other way around. or even better, an nvidia geforce 6600gt

my friend built a wooden computer and i have to tell you the wood reverberates a lot. Be sure to isolate the fans well from the case.

I like the whole bottom intake thing in your design.

saw the thread and decided to test it out. currently writing at 5x100 @ 1.1v on an albatron kx18d pro with an older, unlocked 2500+ booted up just fine, no issues yet, and the computer seems perfectly usable. the cpu temperature at full load running FaD is a constant 35 degrees with my SilentBoost t...

i'm with you - also bought an aspire case based on looks, but the cheaper x-gear. reacting to the noise, i also first tried to vanquish it by replacing the cpu cooler with a thermaltake silent boost. the silentboost is slightly quieter than stock, but not quiet, but it IS quiet compared to the fans ...
